I did quite well in mathematics at school (better than in english at least) but someone please tell me I'm wrong:
I make these assumptions: A player reaches 10.000 games at gameknot. Average moves per game 30. Average thinking on each move 1 minute. (If a player use less time on each move he should be playing blitz at icc or playchess instead of cc at GK!). This player has then spent 10000x30 = 300000 minutes playing chess on GK or 300000/60/24=208 days!! 208 DAYS AND NIGHTS :-o
If this is right (and I really hope its not the case!), the word "addict" gains a whole new meaning in my already confused head! :-S

No one has the right in GK to judge about other usersī personal business - no matter whether you know the person behind the user-name or not.
It looks like that these comments are not meant seriously, but they can be taken seriously because they are personal. To a certain degree I feel insulted myself, because I canīt imagine a comment like "dear male-user-name, you are playing very much games. You should better consider looking for a girl friend and found a family later on." Such prejudices only come up when the user is female.
I share blackbaronīs doubts, but I didnīt post earlier because I had the hope that this thread would find out of this wrong development by itself (sometimes things better should be ignored) - another wrong decision of mine.

Even though im stunned by how much time a player can use on GK and personally consider it addiction, I think comments like "get a girlfriend", "get a life" or anything like that totally unappropriate, can be insulting, and rather childish.
It was certainly not my intention to trigger some unappropriate "flaming", but just to bring up my thoughts about these statistics, that defenetly came as a big surprise to me.

Characters in Arial font are not constant (eg. i versus m), in Courier they are. And I think numbers also has constant width (eg. 1 versus 5) like characters in couriers. And the reason it will be alligned is that because we have the same digit amount of numbers for each column, and all rows has the same word (ELO).

I guess the list came from somewhere in this site. What caught my eyes from the list is why they are not sorted.
And BTW, more games doesn't mean that you invest a lot more time and effort than those with fewer games. Like in simultan, the one with more games is the most productive one :)) And if I can start hundreds of games I will. This is to give chances for lower rated players to experience playing with higher rated players.

That is quite amazing. I signed up 6 months or so after <larsof54> and I am just above 500 games.
The thing that surprises me the most is the ELO ratings of these players with so many games. I would expect after playing so very many games that one would have gained such a base of chess knowledge that one would become higher and higher rated.
But it seems that they are playing so many games and spending so little time per move, that everything must get jumbled up into the blender of the mind, and the moves played might be very impulsive, without much thought for the future.
Are there any players with thousands of games that have made a steady improvement in ELO?
I'm not being judgemental, mind you. I haven't improved very much in the last couple of years playing only 500 games total. And I thought I really loved this game. 10000 games. That's madness!! (not an insult, a compliment)

so GameKnot.com; why not give everyone over a chosen number of games a lifetime membership for free?
This would only be costing you a bit of money, and you'd gain a lot more because if users wanted to get to the stated total quicker they'd have to become subscribers to get access to more games.
