Subject: save a game diagram as a picture file.

Message:
Is it possible to save a GK diagram as a picture file?

I would like to be able to do so to enable me to keep the diagram with my chess notes.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated. :)

DiagTransfer

Message:
There's a neat little program called DiagTransfer ( -> alain.blaisot.free.fr ) which you can use to copy a position from the screen. You still have to actually input all the data, but it has this "transparent" sort of mode where you can overlay it on the diagram you want to copy.

Otherwise, lots of PGN readers can create images of game positions. ChessPad ( -> www.wmlsoftware.com ) is one. Here, of course, you have to copy the moves to the program, so there are still some steps involved.

Hopefully, though, we're not far from a GK feature of "Save this position as BMP" or somesuch.

Use the print screen button on your keyboard. Then, go to Paint and 'paste' (key combination Ctrl+V / or go to Edit => paste in the program). Then you have the whole screen, select the board with the 'select' button (selects a rectangular part of the picture to move, copy or edit), copy that, open a new picture and paste. Then save, and you're done.

Otherwise, you can use the 'printer friendly version' feature on the boards, too. And you can make a note on the board, or annotate (without making it public) to save your thoughts.

Hey you guys want to solve my problems too ?! :)

Well until them, just to say Thanks for the info, being useful to me too. And to add, that if you NEED a diagram, especially multiple ones, the way I have been doing it is to get the FENs ... then go to Forum and put the fens as if to post them. Then his preview so that the diagrams show up and can get the Copy there. Then to just page back and not actually post it, letting it dissipate into cyberlimbo. (This word's for You Jeff! :) (btw, that is as opposed to cyberpurgatory, where used SPAM mail goes! ...and certain blitz players of course)
Otherwise one can take FENS to one of the FEN decifering sites online and it will make diagrams one at a time there.
All rather cumbersome to say the least. Have a great day, all.
Regards, Craig }8-)
