 Subject: A tribute to Gothicgirl
Message:
I had to start a thread about this--sort of a countdown for gothicgirl. She is approaching a very amazing feat--20,000 completed games here at gameknot.com!!! Right now, she has 19,974 completed games, and of those games, she has won 9,637 and maintained a ranking over 1,700. For some of us, it is hard enough to do that with a few games running, but she has kept well over 150 games running since near the very beginning when she started at gameknot.com. Such concentration, such duration, and such ability should be commended...and it will. This thread is for gothicgirl! We honor you and respect you for posting amazing numbers here at gameknot.com!

She's only 25!!! (: She has many years ahead of her--beware gameknot--she's probably going to make it to the top! To post a record over 1,700 and play over 150 games consecutively--you can't deny how amazing that is!

...joined GK in April 2003 per Profile. I am wondering if she will reach 20,000 games (aor 10,000 victories~!) before the end of April 2008. That would make some interesting calculations become quite easy. Then she will:
Have 20,000 games in 5 years. And being 25, if she plays another 50 years to age 75, at the same pace, she will have completed 220,000 Chess games, and possibly have wins in 110,000 of them.
If each of her wins gave Check at least 5 times on average, then there would be 100,000 checks given, up till now. And at that rate, another 50 years of play will add a cool MILLION more Checks she makes; for a potential career total of . . .
1,100,000 Checks dished-out. OF COURSE, if she plays on to 100 years of age . . .

PS// At present rate, if she reaches 20,000 games then she can take a little break till April and still take credit for a production of 333.33 games per month. And needing only 26 more games when this thread was started, before April 2008, to make it, ... it looks like a sure thing. Congratulations in advance, GOTHICGIRL ,

Saw this thread =>  gameknot.com a while ago, since 13-June-2005 gothicgirl has completed a second portion of 10,000 games!
With a little 'willingful' calculating, that means that she has finished, during the last thousand days, ten games per day, every day. :-)

 game
she nearly got me with the old smothered mate... i so nearly played 25. e5?? but luckily i saw the danger at the last minute and played 25. Rb5!, and never looked back...

... its time that I also write something here. First I thank all of you very much for your compliments! ;) I know that I am playing an unimaginable amount of games, and of course it cant be a measure for someone else! when someone is thiking now, this girl must be dizzy, I must say he is right, I am dizzy by conviction! ;) with a time control of at least 3 days/ move thats no problem for me. at the moment, its my turn in around 80 games and that is no reason to get nervous! I simply make my moves, and thats all. Sure, I have some very complicated positions, needing more time, and in some games I have this time (f.e. 7, 10 or 14 days per move) and in other ones I am going to have a look and make my moves. when a situation on the chessboard is complicated, I make it more complicated! I like it, when sparks fly! lol
an other point is, I have to live with a neurological disorder, called Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). that means, that things in my brain doesnt work like they should normally do. the consequences are various, f. e. I have difficulties with attention, concentration, impulses, stimulus satiation and also other things. and there is also, obviously, the realationship to chess. its for sure not easy to play chess, when these circumstances make things difficult for me. on the other side, chess is also a very good therapy, its a good training of the things, that are difficult for me. and playing that many games at once also makes it easier for me to keep concentration on the go. a life with ADD is quite often a life in extremes, something works really good or not at all. or when I like something, I do it so extremly that others must have the impression, that its in excess of what I am able to do, thats normal. as for me, I love the game of chess and therefore I play it that extremly. so when someone has difficulties to be able to relate to my amount of games, its normal, I can understand it! it is not easy at all for someone, who doesnt has to live with ADD, to put himself/ herself in the position of someone with ADD. that might explain, why all of you are wondering about my game load. so its for sure difficult, but never boring because ADD has also positive sides, like a lot of imagination, creativity, an outstanding grasp, flexibility and being highly skilled, what is also to be seen in my chessplay.
I wrote all this, to explain all those things a bit, that are strange and inexplicable for you all. I also had the impression, that I have been seen in a somehow mystic and heroic way because of my game load. thats something I dont really want, because like everyone else, I am a normal human being with good and bad sides. its ok, when you admire me as well as I admire others for their skills or work. but being somehow above someone else, thats something I dont would feel good with, that doesnt belong to me. I would like to be on the side of others, who need me, I can share my knowledge with, not above them. very often I am asked, understandably, how I could play so many games. now it might be a bit more obvious. if there are more questions, you can willingly write me a pm! ;-)

and: 20.000 is not the end but the beginning of the next 20.000 or even more! lol now I am going to make myself at work to reach it..

Since tugger posted his favorite game vs. gothicgirl, I think I'll follow suit. I've played 8 games against her, each with some pretty exciting play.
My favorite, though, is when I had advanced a pawn to the 7th rank, only to lose in a pawn race. game
She's become a stronger player since I last played her, apparently, so I'm sure she's a force to be reckoned with now.

I, like hundreds of other chess fans, have played against Gothicgirl for quite a while. She is an excellent player while keeping sometimes as many as 200 games going. This is a remarkable achievement. She is a talent to be sure. What will happen at 20,000 games? Nothing, she'll just go on towards 21,000 and on and on. She is the most devoted player at GK I think and when our game ends she has challenged me within seconds for our next game. If you haven't played her....do.
