Subject: Emergency Postponement ERROR

Message:
Okay, so according to the Emergency Postponement statements in the ASQ, if an emergency postponement takes place, the person who took it can IMMEDIATELY postpone their games again as necessary.

This is apparently not true. I've been super-busy and I accidently kicked my Emergency postponement in today. However, when I looked to postpone longer it said I couldn't for another 12 days. I was not happy.

The ASQ is not telling the truth--just want to make you all aware--you will not be able to postpone immediately after your emergency postponement....

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but:

1) The emergency postponement is 5 days long.

2) So if it were a normal postponement, at the beginning of it you would be unable to postpone for 10 days (the 5 days during the postponement and then 5 days after that).

3) You were told you had to wait 12 days, which is more than the 10 I'd expect (well, I really expect 0 like you).

It would seem, then, that something rather messed up is going on, or if you postponed recently maybe there's still 12 days more you have to wait for that one?

Yes

I did postpone recently.....I've been so busy with stuff. That is why I hit emergency postponement as well. Student teaching is not easy....so I've been gone a lot. However, the ASQ states clearly that if the postponement kicks in, that you can postpone ANYTIME during or after it...there is no reference to previous postponements in that clause, just a guarantee.

I don't think that's a loophole worth banking on. It should only be expected that if you recently used a postponement, that you still need to wait the remainder of the time before using it again.

I agree that the wording can afford to be changed to clarify for anyone who thought that emergency postponements would reset the buffer time between voluntary postponements. I just don't think that there were many people out there who thought that.

previous postponement

Message:
That could be a possibility I guess....but it should be clarified. It was not intentional for me to run out of time....life is so busy that during the week, I barely have time to move all my games....I'm trying to keep on top of them, but I missed one. If anything, they should clarify that previous postponements still apply in this situation. I have a message out to Mike to find out what he says.

Okay, so according to the Emergency Postponement statements in the ASQ [where is this 'ASQ'?], if an emergency postponement takes place, the person who took it can IMMEDIATELY postpone their games again [not exactly, I suppose it should read 'the person for whom the emergency postponement has been triggered, can use an additional postponement at any time during or after the emergency postponement period'] as necessary. [no, the person can still use the postponement feature as if there has not been triggered a postponement, the emergency postponement is a kind of 'pseudo-postponement' you could say]

This is apparently not true. [apparently you're reading the sentences in the way you would like it to] I've been super-busy and I accidently kicked my Emergency postponement in today [YOU didn't kick in your emergency postponement - the system did]. However, when I looked to postpone longer it said I couldn't for another 12 days [because you took a 14 days (or longer) postponement period that just ended 2 days ago, I suppose]. I was not happy.

The ASQ is not telling the truth--just want to make you all aware--you will not be able to postpone immediately after [I suppose you mean during - which should be possible too, if you haven't postponed just before the emergency postponement gets used] your emergency postponement....[...depends... ah well you're just misinterpreting/assuming too much, I think - it seems clear to me why you can't postpone at the moment - you just have taken another one which ended a few days ago - which is the whole point of starting this thread, isn't it?]

I hope this helps!
