It seems to me that GK has implemented a new feature (or changed an old one).
Now, when I click to view the tournaments, and view the progress of the tournament rounds, it now has a % of games completed, where previously it had a groups completed/ total groups thing.
I think that this change is more beneficial, as 1/12 could mean 11 groups are 1 game away from finishing, but also 11 groups are 10 games from finishing. But with %, you can instantly tell how the group games are progressing, i.e. almost done, or barely completed.
I wonder if this applies to mini-tournaments as well.
All in all, a nice change.

The % of completed games and the number groups finished
Why?
Because the next round start do not implies the end of all the games in the current stage.... Unless this change has been implemented too.
Actually the next stage starts 7 days after ALL the groups have a winner(s)
Using only % do not show this feature, you must crawl over the entire section.

I think another reason it takes so long is because of players exceeding the rating bracket. A player from the 1500-1700 bracket may win his section but be above 1700 therefore needs to wait for the 1700+ section to be completed before progressing and the 1700+ section would need to wait for all the groups of the 1500-1700 section to be finished also.

There should be more than 4 level sections for tournaments. Now there are 1) Any player can join the Expert section. 2) Players with rating of 1700 and lower can join the Advanced section, 3) 1500 and lower -- Intermediate section and 4) 1300 and lower -- Casual section.
All players between rating of 1701 and 2555 (apparently highest achieved rating) have to play in the Expert section. I think that there is too big rating differences to someones. There should be more sections to cover this rating area. Could there be a section for max 2000 (or sections for max. 1900 and max. 2100) players?
I also think that it is not reasonable that any player can join the Expert section. Is it fun for anybody when a 2000 rated player beats a 1000 rated player? My proposal is that a player can join at the utmost the next after next higher section than his or her current "real section" is. So, a player with rating of 1200 can join a section for max. 1300, max. 1500, or max. 1700.
