[ But did you know . . .
about the stakes games of Lasker and Einstein for possession of The Traveling Comb ? ... kept by the winner between games until eventually won by Capablanca, who then astounded them by running it through the hair on his head?
I just saw this rumour on another Chess site this week. So as far as I know, this is now the newest thing on Gameknot ... ]

Message: I can no longer use the analyze board feature at work.
I think our filtering software sees the pieces as "pictures" and it will not allow them to be displayed.

Cover your screen up so it can't see :-)

Message: Interesting, the analyze board figures (of the newer versions) always have been "gif"s - but then, the normal board should not be able to be displayed as well, which makes moving impossible anyway.
Try these... (the analyze-board.pl contains a ".png" file for the figures, no ".gif" like I thought - anbd.pl does contain a ".gif" file)

gameknot.com (previous version)

Message: Your browser must be ancient if it's not picking up .png files. Update the browser, and the problem should go away.
.png is a superior file format compared to .gif. Gives a much crisper image. I just hope that the images were re-made instead of simply converted from .gif to .png. Because that would sort of defeat the purpose...

Message: I think they were re-made; the pieces now have some sort of shadow under them when picking them up.

Notice I posted that in the beginning of June, so you may already be familiarized with the way it currently is.

Notice that GameKnot has been quietly improving all old "cornerstones" of the website. :-)

And player "hover-over" statistics contain a player's avatar now as well.
For example, move your mouse cursor over gameknot_com.

10/01/2008 16:49:21 [ report abuse ] | conditional moves
Message: hello, i am a new player on gameknot and i feel very satisfied and inspired by the whole thing. i just have a question on conditional moves: wouldn't it be good (because of saving time) to have the option to program a certain draw, not only as following one certain opponent's draw, but as a multiple-follower? the best solution to me is, first to define your own draw and after that to define all the (free count of) opponent's draws, even with the special option "all possible opponent's draws". maybe it is possible if you are a premium member ;)

heinzkat
10/02/2008 01:50:10 [ report abuse ] | I suppose...
Message: You mean that you want to "premove" regardless of what your opponent moves. I have thought before that this would never work that well, and I still think that. Also difficult to program, I think, as there can occur a thousand and one strange situations.
Also, it is not so much work to enter all the opponent's possible moves followed by your planned "premove".
