Subject: Conditional Moves Update
Message: I kinda like this new setup for the conditional moves. It's based more on the Analyze the Board feature, and is so much more time efficient. I can sorta see myself being less cautious with the new setup, now that the option to submit each move is gone. But I really, really like the improvement that you can just click back on a move within a line and make an alternative conditional move (or update the one you already made).
Anyone else notice this? Thoughts on it?

Message: After moves 1. e4 c5
2 conditional moves currently active:

[ edit | delete ] 2. Nf3 d6
Hmm...! I wonder if I get two moves for the price of one!? :-)
For the rest, it's probably better.

7/06/2008 07:50:14 [ report abuse ] | better.
Message: its much better.
Would be better still if you could input your next move independent/irrespective of your opponents next move. This would save having to 'type in' all the variations. Especially useful in endgames....for example if you were pushing a pawn for promotion.
Please dont bother replying if you are just going to state it would be much easier to make a mistake.

Message: I didn't notice that bug. The page should prompt you if you add a move that conflicts with a previous entry.

"Message from GameKnot customer support:
Hello, heinzkat,
The contradicting conditional moves check is planned for the next
update."
The 'next update' has already taken place, it seems.
1) Unlimited moves per sequel allowed
2) Unlimited amount of conditional moves allowed
3) Underpromotions supported for both sides
4) No en passant bugs possible (like the one buddie reported a while ago)
5) Improved interface, of course!
6) Probably some other improvements I am unaware of (nobody has played a conditional move against me since the new version)

7/09/2008 07:26:46 [ report abuse ] | Actually...
Message: The page does prompt you, in red, if you make a conflicting move. However, in my test, my opponent moved while I was trying to set up conflicting sequences so I don't know what would have happened in my case.

Message: ....the unlimited moves option......had one of those situations were an opponent just wouldn't resign, and locked in a 16 move sequence to finish him off.....thanks again GK!

7/11/2008 06:39:28 [ report abuse ] | But you can't see the cond.moves directly anymore
Message: With the new conditional moves you merely see a green light indicating that you have conditional moves setup for the game, you need to click and wait for the board to come up, whereas before you would see the conditional moves listed immediately.

Message: It would be interesting to be able to enter variations more easily. For examples, once a line is entered, it would be nice to click on a move where the opponent has several possibles replies and then enter the other variations as well (without starting the line from scratch)...

Message: Exactly that what you say, is possible at the moment.
1) Enter the wished conditional moves line
2) Click save
3) Click somewhere on the moves list on the right
4) Enter a different opponent's move
5) Enter your reply
6) Click "Save as new" (not on "Update", that will overwrite the first entered conditional moves line)
