Subject: Games Database
Message: Hi folks
In the games database some early move options are listed as 1-0 indicating, i presume, a win for one side or the other. However, if you click on the game often there are further moves played. Does anyone know why. Below is a link to an example...hope link works

Message: When the database offers you a link to a game with 1-0 or 0-1, it isn't because this is the point when either side won it, it is simply the end of the branch, it's the last game on the database that meets the criteria for the moves entered.
For example, take the link you have posted, there are 23 games where Nf6 was played, 2 games for e6, and the remaining three moves on the database have been made just once, and you can then have a look at the rest of the game to give you some idea what kind of position might develop.

Message: No probs. I actually find it useful, being able to study the game when we reach the last one in the database. I might be studying an opening which an opponent has played, and discover that 12... Kh1 has been played once before, and it was a win for Black. Hooray! But... what if the position was actually in favour of White, but he made an error? Well, take the link and have a look! It just offers one extra insight before you make your decision which move to play.
