It seems you are right, all games of importance to decide who advances to the next round have been finished.

Message: I'm awaiting the 2nd round too. Does anyone else think as a whole the tournaments are a bit too long and drawn out? Look at Tourney 13. Started July 2003 and still not complete. I know the format has changed since then to speed things up, but the first one I entered, (no. 23 ~Feb 2005) is in the current format and still has not fully completed. How long can it go on for with only one finishing for every ten or so starting?

Message: I think it's better to change the rules you finished each round whitin a month. Each game that doesnt finish, ends in a draw.

Message: Even if you play once a day you need 30 days to play 15 moves each, which is clearly not enough to mate your opponent in normal circumstances.
If you must introduce such a rule then let it be 3 months or something .. should be enough to play out the game and if not then you draw. I could be able to live with that

Message: I constantly stand against this idea that people should be forced to play quickly in the world of correspondence chess. The idea is to think through your move. Not to mention, people have lives outside of chess. I spent three-four months away using postponement and full time scales--why? I needed to graduate with my college degree. This is far more important than playing chess. For us who have lives outside of chess but still love the game, it is unfair to limit our time to play. Not to mention, if you have a membership you can always just join another tournament while you wait. If you can't afford a membership you can play at various other chess sites that offer unlimited ability for free. There is plenty of room to play games while you are waiting and there should be no rush. After all, this IS correspondence chess. Notice that the longer games are those in the expert section. That is probably because the best players are those that take their time to move thinking through all options. There are always exceptions. I think that decreasing the amount of people who can join a tournament by decreasing the ranks in each section (100 pts, not more) is one way of increasing tournament speed. But there should be no limit on those who have a life outside of chess. We have just as much of a right to play here as you do.

Nonsense, of course.

Message: Finally I have made it through to round 2 of a tournament....so when does it start !! Ah, feels great to be able to type this up.
But really, both in advanced and casual sections the remaining games are all in groups that have been decided.
I agree with Nathanman22, everybody should be able to take their time, and those remaining games can be played to a finish, but they shouldn't stop round 2 from starting.
