Subject: Why are you playing for us ? Just give us a one reason !!
Our team was sabotated today by jumpingenni by the mass of timeouts and acute leave team by himself. He was lost games by timeout before but he gave promise himself that it will never happen again. Actually the problem is not connected to one or two people. Not too much time before our strongest player Sualkshn which is actually IM in OTB chess left the team by himself and after Chessigi left and finally Mszak left the team (for nationalism). FINALLY, I found the problem they left because they don't want to give their power into DEMOCRACY and good human beings, like an art, like honesty. I know art and honesty is a different terms but I want to think yourself about why do you play for us ? Do you actually know why we are playing at a team and who are the enemies of our team ? What is the main team spirit and philosophy of ___For USSR___ ? I hope my english will be enough about my heart's crying. We are (humans) lost our most necessary feelings such as honesty, such as friendship. We all want to win, win and again win. Now I know many of yours think Gameknot is not too offical and the team games appearing amateurish. But I think little different, I think Gameknot is one of the best sites over the net and Gameknot is much serious than any other offical organizations. I don't want to get in polemics with such organizations but I have to say the truth by using my experiences on Netiquette and chess. I hope our first team forum will be continue with great successes and achive much of suggestions about our team spirit and philosophy. Please remember we will use ENGLISH for Gameknot forums in order to create more universal vision. If you have specific question or answer just use my e-mail address (just message me at Gameknot then I will give my e-mail) and please use Cyrilic letters for your Russian e-mail.

Hello, all team-mates! I'm new in the team. But I am proud to play for it. So my offer is: to make a juri - 10 people(probably oldest members or top 10 players or other criteria). That juri would decide what is good and what is bad for the team. And some people like "jumpingenni" don;t have place in our squad. If you have any ideas for the team rising please make a note.

If each peaople who speak here is "very sorry" for his bad english" why did we continue to speak and ear this bad english ? there are others langages in the world no? perhaps spanish ? portugues ? french ? or other latin langage if most of people are from there ? but who is where ? :)

jacare... i dont think everybody knows good english as u ... neither do i... and.. u cant expect if u talk in any other lang other then english, that would be recognized by all... as an example. i dont know any lang other then bangla and english, and i dont thing any of u know bangla, so if i post in that, what will be the situation?? and if u use spanish(the one u used as example) i dont think any better then 50% will understand... as english is the mostly accepted 1 here.. so we dont have other options .. do we? as far i have browsed through the profiles of my teammates, i dont think theres any concentration to any region .. whatever.. this is all's decesion.... eveything counts....

teams have played a few times on GK so far.
Your team captain is a good person and he is
running a fine team. It is just too bad that some people
go timeout and ruin a good thing but this happens to
all the teams.
I have been team captain of Chuck's Knights for over
1 year. It is a lot of work to be team captain and many
people do not realize how much work it is. Support
your captain as best you can. I tell my people that
winning is not everything but please play the games
to a finish. Do not timeout!! :-]
Don't worry about your English. I understand everybody.

I am an English speaker only. I have tried to learn other languages, but it is a work in progress. The only language I can read is English, so I wont be able to correspond if the language changes. I understand every message written above, so please don't be self-concious. In fact, please stop apologizing for "bad English!!"
I am a US Army physician stationed in Germany. If I don't go to Iraq, I plan on continuing with this team for as long as you will let me. I have never timed out, and I don't plan on it.
I am trying to improve. I use Chessmaster 9000 as a learning tool, but some group analysis might be useful. I have no idea how to analyze a game, but I have noticed that my scores have been improving lately. I guess I must be learning something.

it will be really nice if we can have some gro analysis of our games...(team's) .. in that case.. we can easily find out the ?? 's .. or the opponents !! 's ...
as we are here as a team... we can easily have team tournaments among ourselves.. that will be more friendly i think.. and may be a lot of improvements ... might be unrated...we are here to have fun.. yes.. games are for fun.... but all we need is intention... to do good and improve our chess.

I think we all agree with English to be our official language. I agree with the idea of team tournaments. that is good idea. I also sudgest to have some lessons. That could make our skills better.

lets get over from suggesting and keep working on those (me too).... further suggestions will come eventually.... we may need to have a captain(what we already have), 2 asst. directors (for team matches), 2 tournament directors (in case we want make the tourny idea work) and 2 managers (in case any of the above fails to manage responsibility in time); a 7 member team.
but we all need to have.. all the team members have to agree on the decisions. i hope zatsepin will msg all the team members abt this.
we have to have all or at least the most of the members to make things right.. what a team meant to be.. spirit..... and other things .. like... we can discuss abt strategies, goals (other than fun of course :-D) and others stuffs :-D ....

Emeto's Juri Idea is good. But firstly and most importantly we need who is active communicator or active forum user of the team. This means who wants to stay the team in longer periods. Any other sports (soccer, volleyball, basketball, etc. also in chess Bundesliga German chess league) team players sign contracts and their managers have full of guarantee of being availability the team matches, struggle for the league as well. But in here, we always have to protect our back from unwanted knifes or swords. For example, computer users (we always need perfect strategies to combat this), but another danger is spies (spy) which means a free registered Gameknot play want to play at team and always tell give me as much as team matches possible and then he win some games he lost anothers but SUDDENLY he lost all their games and left the team (The SPY from a higher pointed teams). You can find it is too conspricacy, but believe it or not they can be. Another cheat is rating manipulator --- they lost their private matches artificially reduce their ratings and wants to challange your team with extra 200 or 300 rating below. ELO system give protective effect for this scam but still needs decisive rules for fighting this scam. Finally we came the same scenario --- Gameknot is not a offical CC site and all games must be a fun. It is true that this site is not offical but no one can give a guarantee of Gameknot's approach of professional Correspondence Chess world. Of course ICCF (International Correspondence Chess Federation) is more proper approach to setting a chess team but currently ICCF's teams must link their own countries chess federations which means you always need your own countries players or in other words this is pure nationalism.
But I believe in chess nationalism have a bad future. In todays war world, every non manupulated human wants to PEACE. War lovers always will be the loser one. Now I want to focus on team improvements.
--- PLEASE give us your reasons why do you want to stay at "___For USSR___" (Please give us your real reasons & please deepen your heart)
--- How can you describe your chess life into your real life ? In other words chess is too important for you or less important for you.
--- Do you really believe that "___For USSR___" can be a part of world peace ? (not only meaning of peace but practically make peace movements).

just why we are here?? for a small competition among ourselves??? among this 32 to show i am the leading.. or blah blah ...... this is not that.. the reason i am here... is just to have someone beside me, someone to lead me.. someone to suggest me and someone to help ... for somewthing which is called 'team spirit'.. this is quite personal game indeed ... but still team spirit counts, isnt it? why i am playing all my open slots for team games? i dont have any personal challanges.... why?? may be i love to be in the team... i play chess for fun.. i am no prof. player or something .... but it(chess) means something of course ..... or why i come back here every 7-8 hrs? i dont know why this world peace quesion comes.... it doesnt appear to me a with meaning ... i better not try.
whatever.. the thing is.. i am not getting why those questions apprears.. if we act as a team.. those knifes and sword things do not matter.
theres no way we will win all the games.... why a team is for?? for wining all the games?? and scolding the player who is losing some of his games??? i dont think so... my team games seems pretty personal now.. to me... coz we just have not communication btw us.... just i can see my teammates names in the team page.. and noting else .... then how a team spirit will be built??? just by answering what chess is to me.. is this team gonna be a revolution for world peace or some theoritical ques like that??? may be i am mistaken.. but this is not the way a team should act... we got to be practical ... we need comunication and else...
may be everybody is getting what i wanted to say .. or else.... may be its for my proficiency problem or i couldnt be able to express myself.

I have a problem. I am in end game again baris. My opponent has only King, but I have a Queen+King. However he take up the great of time and he is near to checkmate, but he want not to resign the match. It is very irritating. Is it referee in Gameknot? What can I do in this situation? (Beside to give checkmate).

You're right - this is a question of etiquette. unfortunately there is nothing you can do except to checkmate in a fastest possible way. I also have had a mass of games where my opponent play with a great material dissadvantage and lost position, players like these play even if there is mate in one or two...
I asked once one of these guys why is he still playing and the answer was
that there is no such think like lost game, untill there is a chance for a stalemate!!
and he even told me that I have no respect to assume victory!
but where is the respect to your opponent when you play with only a king against king and queen?!!
Gameknot can't do anything about it because there is no violation of the chess rules to play untill you can do a legal move. This is only question of etique, and you know - a lot of people have a different point of view about it.
so just play your game and don't worry about it.

To warfaze1784 --- I messaged many times about the language problem to all members but still no perfect solutions. Perfect solution is like this :
Player A knows French,English
Player B knows French, German
Player C knows Russian
Player D knows Russian, English
Player E knows Swedish,English
Player F knows German
Player G knows French
Player H knows Swedish
Solution is :
Player A helps Player G
Player D helps Player C
Player B+A helps player F (this is hard one)
Player E helps Player H
In optimistic view this can be possible. But in realistic view this is not too easy about the time problem. Every team player has their own life other than chess. We are all not chess professionals. But we can be.

So..why can't we just send to our captain the approximately level of spoken languages and therefore we will know who can help and who can get help.
For example: I could say: I have an intermediate level of English and a few less level of Russian.
About the team philosophy:
Nikolay, you know - more of us was invited, I can answer you why did I accept the invitation to play for our team:
1. Because I think that it's great to have teammates - and even more - friends, that can help you to learn more about chess, to improve your skills, and just to have fun together.
2. I have a lot of respect to great Russian scholarship, I still think that it is the best in the world(for example - evaluate the world champions in last 60 years), and the more I know about chess is what I learned from Russian books(I hope no one get me wrong, this doesn't mean that I don't respect the other chess scholarships, moreover my favorite player for all the times is not a Russian: my chess idol is Bobby Fischer)
3. Chess has an important meaning for me, and I have never stoped to learn it. It is like in the real life - you can never learn more enought to assume that there is nothing more to learn. And as far as I think that we have fun together and we can learn more from each other, moreover to have a friends in so diferent parts of the world I can say: I will stay in this team.
I hope that I doesn't get borring, or if I am please take my apologize. I just tried to be honest with the teammates

I came in that place because of the chess and guess all of us have the same reason. WE all like or love to play the game.
About the team:
To be in a team gives me power. I feel I am not alone. I can ask for advice ...for help .... and being in a team means you can decide the match even you are with the lowest rating. I enjoy that idea .... and ... Nikolay you asked what should we do against "knifes or swords" and things like this. and the answer is :
in most cases we could do nothing
When I joined the team you asked me how many games I want to play?
And I told you 5-6 monthly. I told you that couse I wanted to play them very serious and to prevent the risk of many timeouts. If I loose 20 games with timeout everyone in the team will hate me.
And there is ine sudgestion: when a new member arrive we shouldn't give him a lot of games to play. That means lower risk.
By for now.
P.S Kazi just make your opponent crazy.... play with him like with mouse. I do it that way and they resign. :)))

Hey Guys,
I'm brazilian, tough I speak portuguese, some of you may never thought about chating in portuguese, I agree with those who think that english is the better language to make at least
a big part of the team be understood.
Although I raise a question of this forum, I know that this is an open forum where a lot of people can read without futher permission, and I think that this is not good at all. As an old saying "We have to wash our clothes inside home". Then I suggest the captain to create a group in yahoo for example where we can share our emails and be more familiarized. groups.yahoo.com/
We should also create a user at yahoo as I use messenger and talk to each other. Some of you can practice english, some of you can teach me russian or german. And following this principles maybe we can by sharing our culture experiences break the nationalism boundaries and creating a friendship.
I like so much playing chess, and I have to improve it. Playing for a the team makes me think twice before do a movement. It's more reponsability. I work a lot, and chess makes me relax a little.
Well, I think I wrote a lot, thanks for those who read all of it.... :)))

4 Board of Directors (All new team player acceptance or rejection, old players removings, etc. Creating new concepts of the team -- becoming a professional correspondence chess team, rejection or acceptance of all new team strategies and philosophies (entering team tourneys on various organizations). They will be selected by team members every 6 months by voting system.)
1 Explorer = S(he) explores whole internet for team competitions, new members, or new staff for the team.
3 Annotater --- Analyses finished team games. (Someone other than 2 annotater give their analysis but only 2 annotater be mentioned on the games)
2 Financial advisor --- Seeking sponsors for the team for all team needs ( entering team competions, becoming registered Gameknot player, etc. or hiring chess coaches for the team )
