i know this should be in team play forum. BUT KNOWONE WILL SEE IT. the team unknown's is cheating go look at there team page then homepage then you will see in there forums that they are cheating i don't care what anyone says they are cheating. and noone should play them i n team match they should be kicked off there team. this is wrong. and not fair to other teams. we need to do something about this.

sent a message to web master. and no i did not see that honololou. but that is cheating vs whoever they play too. but they even cheat on TEAM GAMES. on the same forum but diffrent subjet i will find it soon and put it in here. but anyways they ask each other for help and they have one player that helps in every game. whoever he is i will copy and paste to show yall. it is cheating. and i hate it for other teams. no team should have 80 points out of 87 games you know they are cheating.

I'm previously winning against mormel12 in this game, but due to certain factor (distracted) I clicked at the wrong tile sacrificing my queen for free, my intended move was actually to take the knight for free.

Any suggestions of what moves I should take, or was I doom to lose in this game ?




once again this is cheating for sure. oh and by the way they have 84 points out of 91 games now. i am not haveing fun with my team like i use too since i saw this. becuse now i know we can't get to number 1. witch is everyone's goal. but i wanted to do it fair. i think every team games should be private

A team that was directed by Davism. As many of you know, he destroyed that team just in one day.
I think he is a nice guy but he is very very excessive and doesn't know when to stop.
The way of recruiting players for the team "unknown" was not nice at all.
I've been looking at unknown's finished games and I could find no one where the unknown's player is lower rated than the oponent, and in lots of games the unknown's player is more than 300 points above the oponent.
The team played about 60/70 games, lost 1, draw 1 and won ALL THE OTHERS.
Is the first time I see something like this at GK, and I don't like it.
This is totaly opposed to the spirit of a team.

You cannot seriously defend your team under these circumstances. I agree that the first post quoted above indicates only that dominickmazzotta is willing to give general advice (though it is suspicious that he offers help with any specific position---still, that COULD mean after-the-fact advice in analyzing a completed game).

But riwan's message was posted December 2 in a game that ended December 5. In other words, he was seeking advice on an active game. And contrary to your characterization that he just wanted to know whether the game was lost, his message (as quoted) stated: "Any suggestions of what moves I should take." If the date and the content of the message as posted here are correct, then that is is outright cheating.

The GK FAQ states:

"Q21: What is considered cheating? How to report cheaters?

A: It's quite simple -- you can not use anything besides your own brain, and you can not consult anyone besides yourself. That includes chess programs, chess engines or chess computers, your friends, colleagues etc. etc."

I am astonished that anyone would attempt to defend this behavior, and that no one on your team had the integrity to voice opposition to this flagrant violation of the rules. The team should be stripped of all points earned to date and/or banned outright.

Not only was I already a member of another Team ... I remembered well the questionable actions davisim had taken in the past.
I will now send a PM to my Team Captain and advise him to put this Team on the persona non grata list as far as Team play. This opens up a whole new concept of "Team play" ... you play against a "Team"

To answer that, yes, the other team can now decline these matches. But that is a recent change. It used to be that the first team would set up a match, and the second team would accept. The first team would put its players in, then the second would assign who plays who.
This meant the second team could put their higher ranking players against the first teams.
Mike made the change that now, after the first two steps, the first team now has to accept the matchings. This was made partially by examples like the ones above that proved how easily the old system could be abused.
As for teams that may or may not play unfairly, that is up to the team captains to decide whether or not to play against that team. If no one will play them, then they will not be able to cheat.

I would like very much to have a chess match with dominicmazzotte ... just NOT in a Team Match ... it wouldn't be fair to my Team. Lucky for me, my Capt. would never let this happen. He knows I only want to play players 1400 to 1700 (and i'm reaching at that) so as to have good tough games while at the same time, a chance to win .. and moreover ... be part of a Team. The Captain is the leader and represents what the Team stands for.

If Capts. of other Teams are willing to throw there Team "under the bus" It's up to the players on that Team to follow that Capt.; choose a new one; or leave the Team and join one that better represents what they hope to achive in teamplay.

That same choise is available to the unknowns ... you can see your reputation forming above ... not a real good introduction. I have no problem with it myself ... other than the fact I would never play a Team game against your Team.

It's chess guys/gals ... a gentle/man/womans game ... not a gangfight.

The Captains of the Teams that accepted these matches were wrong too IMO ... it could not have happened without there co-operation, either that OR these Capts. were somehow duped in the way the matches were set up in the 1st place.

For a lot of people being #! means more than Integrity or Honor.. in politics .. in business or even it seems ... chess.

In that case ... I vote for THAT as the best improvement in the past several months.
The point remains that although the unknowns set up matches 'within the rules' .. the ethics of doing so AND ABOVE THAT ... playing as a Team against a single outmaned opponet says all I need to know about those players and specificly the Capt. of that Team.

I can tell you that this is a very aggravating thing. I agree with an above post that said their points should be stripped, and also the team should be wiped out. If this guy is known for that sort of thing, then why hasn't he had some form of punishment. I know that my team will never play against that team, and there is another team that I'll never play against as well. They are doing the same thing by e-mail is what I heard from one of their past team members. But, I cannot prove that so I won't give their name. Good luck to all HONEST teams on GK.

About riwan, he shouldnt have asked for any help, and it was too late to stop that, no cheating was taking place, as the only advice was to resign, so please dont call us cheaters!!

Okay, we sometimes play lower rated players, to try and get some team points, but you must remember that is within the rules cos the other captain has to accept!

So please back off and leave this team alone

I am afraid I have not been able to contact anyone on gk, i have not been rude! The webmaster has banned me on sending mesags, i cant even send messages in games, or call matches names i want!!!

This is real bad, i cant send messages for 3 months, therefore, i need someone to help me a hell of a lot, i want someone to be my team co-ordinator, i need to send lots of messages to team members, and other team captains and that. I will write them out for you, all you have to do is copy and paste it and sent it to the people i tell you!!
The reason for the webmaster banning me is due to me sending messages to mass people looking for players to join this team, i accidently sent the message to the same person a few times, they complained to the webmaster. Its way out of oreder as i am a paying member, but nothing can be done about it, i really felt leaving this team, but i wont be doing that, thats wat these people want!!

I also need someone to send messages to people i am playing, and to some friends, this person will be very busy. If you are intersted in helping me do this, please email me on deancourt66@hotmail.com

I would like a regular gamknot player that is onlime most days! This is going to be a challenge for us in the next 3 months!

There is a way if someone is willing, is to give me there password, so i could send messages on there account, if u can trust me, it would be very much appreciated, if u can do this email me!!!!

If your Team is cheating or not, the perception is clearl that your Captain is willing (and indeed anxious) to do everything "within the rules" to set up matches that have little chance of being even the least bit competative. All for the sake of "collecting points".
This is the perception of your Team ... self-induced by the actions taken and the proof is posted above. If it matters not to you how others percieve you and your Team, then by all means continue in the same manner.

I think you are right....... perception of our team is important, i will make sure that ourcaptain changes the way, we are a great team and have lots of fun, although we have high elo team rating and many points, this should not be everything, fun and just playing chess together is essential!!

At least we are not being accused of cheating, but you are so right Victord, we should play morefair matches within 100 points.

Just look at it from davism point of view, if the opponent captain accepts the challenge. Davism is not entirely to blame, its the other captains fault too!

If you can trick a 6 yr old girl into armwrestling you for her lunchmoney ... you are not 'entirely' to blame I guess ... afterall, she DID agree.
You'll get the money, but how do you feel about yourself ... that's the question.

davism point of view is obvious ... to win games and collect points regarless, how else explain the way these games were set up ... EVERYONE of them with the intent of giving the opposition little/NO chance. As for it being the "other captains fault too!" , until recently, as pointed out above it was quite simple for one Capt. to dupe another, all that it required was for said Capt. to trust the other to set up the matches fairly.
You see the result of that trust.

Davism is a good guy! We want to reach top of the table, we do play some fair games too, but if they aree willing to play with lower team players, then lets just play chess, both teams are happy! The aim of the team is to reach the top, if we can do it by playing lower rated players, then let it be... but why such a big discusiion on this topic????

Anout that little girl analogy, i think that is a poor analogy, is there any captains 6 years old, we are all old enough to make a team selection, if the other team wants to accept, there is nothing wrong in that, lets just play chess!

About trust, i am sure that wen trust was involved, i am sure davism asked the opposition beforehand before accepting challenge!!

The question is whether you are sure he asked the other captains or if you think he might of asked...
There is a discussion on the topic because fair play is an essential part of any game, especially chess. I cannot say whether your team is cheating or not, but i can say that the messages left in that forum are very suspicious. Also i suggest rather then somebody having access to somebody else's account, that maybe you ask Mike if the team captain can be changed, whilst Davism is banned. That means that Davism may have to swallow his pride for the good of the team and ask Mike nicely. I'm not in your team, but this suggestion seem logical to me.

i only offered advice on opening theory..against the french, pirc, etc...i NEVER helped anyone play against another player..nor would i ever do that...as far as the comments about the low rated players that i play..i had nothing to do with the matches...i had no say whatsoever..the team captain decides who we play and when..and one last thing...davism has done nothing to any of you..i don't understand the cruel comments..

I haven't looked YET, but when they say that the other captains accepted the challenge, do they mean before the new rule came into effect or after. If before, then the opposing captain had no idea who their players were being set up against. kitb, you are making no sense with your replies. you were quoted above, then you called the person a liar. I know he is notorious but how come you people accuse him when he is working
within the GK rules.As far as advices from dominickmazzotta is concerned;
well if you read correspondance rules you have the option to refer to opening books during the game.Then why not advices from someone else?
As far as team match pairing, then I have seen many teams which give their stronger players weaker opponents.
lastly who knows who is using computer programs to help make their moves???
Davism may be wrong at times but this is becoming a bit exaggerating since the way his team is performing(wonderful) I can see them soon on top of team tables..
so obviously there must be SOME OPPOSITION to him.
