Poor Rupert seems to have conveniently "forgotten" the fact that I recently beat him, decisively, in a team game (board #1853748 ). I guess too much VB really does rot your brain. VB (Victoria Bitter), for those lucky enough not to know, is a particularly nasty brand of Aussie beer brewed out of vinegar and old football socks. Mixed with XXXX ( Rupert's other favourite beer) it is classed as a controlled substance by most of the Australian States and Territories and is often used to strip the paint off Holdens. So try not to be too hard on him WHEN you send him your harrassing messages...he sort of can't help being that way :-)

To all of those not in the know, the current statistics show that Xena has been beaten a total of 4 times by her Alternate Rival, with only one win to her name. I would also like to add that things have now been evened up between 120kz and rupert29, now at 1-1. A new match is currently underway. Who will win?

Rupert has misquoted this riddle and made it impossible to solve. It should have been phrased as ...
Think of words ending in -gry. Angry and hungry are two of them. There are only three words in the English language. What is the third word? The word is something that everyone uses every day. If you have listened carefully, I have already told you what it is.
The answer is "language" which is the third word in the phrase "the English language" and is something that we use every day and and we have already been told "what it is". Incidentally there ARE only two words ending in -gry in common usage and they are "angry" and "hungry". Next one please.

Right, thanks Social Dude.The Sing-a-Long has certainly removed any lingering doubts about team sanity that's for sure :-) Also SD is quite correct in saying that no one has visted Rupert's forum for the longest time, least of all his own team...and the same goes for odonata's forum.Tragic really isn't it? Perhaps they could get together and start a support group for Friendless Team Captains? That way, at least, they'd have each other to talk to. So in the interests of "cheering" up these poor, lonely individuals please post something suitably annoying, such as pointless riddles etc, in the VB-Fourex United and Flying Chicken forums located, respectively, at gameknot.com/fmsg/chess5/1666/shtml and
gameknot.com/fmsg/chess5/1643/shtml. It's the least we can do.
Also on the Eternal Rivalry subject...there is the possibility of a team match up between Social Dude abegtrup and odonata. I say "possibility" because negotiations are proving very difficult... mainly because The Belgian One keeps backing down. This "Match Of The Century" will, therefore, probably take place somewhere around March 2006. We will definitely keep you posted ... I am sure the ticket sales will be hot for that one.

Only been a member for a few days but it certainly makes life on GK more interesting.God it does get boring when you log in and no moves to make, no new postings...hence this little contribution. This may perhaps be an opportune moment to give you all a teeny little sneak preview of things to come, or maybe I'll just drop a cryptic hint for now. Tamer does indeed look like a shoe-in for this year's Speedy trophy unless somebody manages to catch him up... and I do mean fast.

I have decided to do a weekly “newsletter” (hence the title) outlining all the latest developments for our team. If there aren’t any I’ll just make some stuff up but I actually do have a couple of items this week... and here they are.
* COMING SOON TO A SOCIAL FORUM NEAR YOU*
"The Inaugural Get Ya Pawn Here Awards”
In light of the fact that our team has been going exactly 4 months ( depending on which part of the world you live in) we have decided to hold an “Awards Night” to celebrate the spectacular highs and the dazzling lows of being a Pawn Star ( or associate). It will be just like the Academy Awards, only without Gwyneth Paltrow and you don’t need to dress up.
We are, therefore, calling for nominations for any Achievements, or Non-Achievements, that you think deserve a special mention. You may also nominate your own categories but there will be set ones such as:
*Most Team Games Played (who could that be I wonder? :-)
*Best Win When The Opponent Has A Heaps Bigger Rating Than You.
These would be for the Achievement Category.
For the Non-Achievement Category (mainly for Rivals and associates):
* Most Irritating Non-Belgian Rival Team Captain (a no-brainer that one )
* Most Tedious Team Game To Date
(Note: please do not nominate members of opposing teams for Non-Achievment Awards unless they are Official Rivals)
PRIZES for both categories will include virtual chickens and $50 dollar (Aus) vouchers to fly OVER Antwerp.
Please send your nominations in to me (xena) by close of business Friday, August 6th. I should also point out that no direct insults will be published....indirect ones, however, are fine.

Anyway, in the meantime, while we're figuring out how to do that exactly, we're going to start
something new. POSTCARDS FROM THE EDGE campaign - no, it's not another 'eternal team
rivalry', it's an attempt to have a bit more show for our team's international presence!
Here's the idea...
We want you to send in a postcard!
It's up to you as to what it should look like and what it should say, but hopefully it will have a
bit of taste, and reek of your personality! We're gonna collect 'em, scan 'em, and post 'em to
our website! That way our eternal rivals will know we're not just make-believe electronic pixie
dust, but a real presence out there in the world - just waiting to close in! =)
By the way, there's no need for return addresses or anything, so all your secret identities will
be secure, and you will be able to continue fighting crime as super heroes/villains, as is your
preference.
P.S. future-proof, if you have to swim in to a mainland to send in your postcard, that's
acceptable, we understand the penguin post is awfully unreliable in Antarctica!

"Hi, was reading your last post....just want to explain to you that whoever voted 'Team Play' is actually doing a favour to cancel out the 'Delete' vote. That's how forum moderating works here in GK....it's not someone wants to move it 'away' to Team Play section, but rather so that it remains there AGAINST the delete vote.....btw, that was such an unsportmanship act to vote your team forum for deletion!"

Thanks Leo. REALLY DOUBLY SORRY now I know that it was you that I called a "twit". I thought, at the time, that the vote might be part of our Rival's twisted sense of "humour". I didn't realise how the forum moderating system worked ...but I do now.
Also sjs4manu, at no time did I consider it was you who voted for the forum deletion. I suspect it was, in fact, someone from "out there" who read it, didn't understand our Rivalry concept and took exception to it. There are in fact far worse team forums out there than this...even taking in to account the awful poetry. :-)
Anyway I hope all the misunderstandings are now cleared up regarding these issues.

I used to drink VB when i lived in AUS but now i live in the UK i like smooth beers like Boddingtons or Cafferey's. I also like the odd scotch.

I have just discovered if you vote for the thread to stay in the 'Team Play Forum' a vote automatically goes on to the 'Just Delete This Thread' one too. I thought I'd just get an extra positive vote in so that it was 2 to 1...but I guess you can't do that.
So everyone it is not the work of a Bitter and Twisted Rival, or anyone else, it is YOUR CAPTAIN who has voted to delete this thread...but it's ok 'cos it's still all equals out quite nicely.
Just don't try this at home folks. :-)

All I have to say is, damn. I go on the lam for five measly weeks and l come back and three of our Eternal Rivals have forged an Unholy Alliance to wipe us off the face of the Earth? Rampant and uncensored singing by friend and foe alike? And this team forum vote thing is making Florida look like a goddam democracy. Pawn Stars, Pawn Stars... let me just say that you are all very, very lucky that I don't take any of those three Eternal Rivals remotely seriously, otherwise you'd all be in trouble. Now back in the corral, all of you... save it for the battlefield :-)

Well, here it is already... the end of a forum filled with controversy, apologies and really bad poetry.
Just as a finishing note, the latest on the Rivals is that Rupert, apparently, has teamed up with odonata and manhattan against us(gameknot.com/fsmg/chess5/1666.shtml). Scary! I don't know what they are planning...perhaps a budget-price mystery tour to Antwerp is on the cards.
Also, for those of you who have nothing better to do after you've finished reading the phone book, perhaps you'd like to catch a glimpse of Rupert's other life as an Intergalactic Warrior. www.geocities.com/AdmVidak/Bios/Avery.htm. I guess after a few cartons of VB his imagination must have really got the better of him...quite a tragic case really.
Anyway now I am off to start my new and, hopefully, improved Social Forum "The Pawn Stars #4: Pawn To Be Wild". See you over there everyone...no, not you Rupert :-)
