actualy i think he nailed himself...
ok, after a few losses and draws we all suffered from, we now fell back to place 19. however good job from jdoria4 who won 2 team games. that should keep us alive in the top 20!
I had something very important coming up, so we decided not to go up north before the baby is here. so our next vacations will then be arround january, maybe early feb. but then for a month or two.
so the good news is that we'll not be on vacation for the rest of the year.
The website is also updated and improved. please let me know if the problem with www.64squares.tk still exist (being slow to forward...). otherwise i'll have to check for a new address. does anyone know where to get a free .com, .net or .org?
we wouldn't even need webspace, because we got allready.
and again, any 1600-1900 playing friends, please let them know about the team.

My name is Patrick, Im from New York , Im Italian if that even matters. I may not be a grand master , but i do think i have good instincts . One thing i can guarantee all of you and The team Captain kai-sim is that you will receive no time outs from me . Ive been scoping all the other teams as well and i see this seems to be an issue. In my humble opinion, why join a team if your going to time out . In america online chess I was rated 1700 , This forum seems to be much more competitive but i think im up to the challenge. My only concern in a forum of this type is , your opponent can easily get help from someone much higher rated and have someone dictate to them which move to make . Even with that in mind being true or not , i wil strive to do my best for the team and always have its best interest in mind . Im a family man , married 21 years and i have 2 children and 2 dogs that think their human. Just in case your wondering about my screen name i love lions and tigers and have a few tattoos of them . Well.. im fairly new to league and teams , but if im accepted , ill do whatever i can to help rise our team to the top.

i would like to know if our team logo displayes correctly on our team home page now.

with my friends browser (he works with internet explorer) it doesn't display correctly and the date arround the clock is moving so fast that you almost can't read it. does anyone else have similar problems? also, i'm on DSL (high speed internet). anyone with dial up on the team - is it displaying the pages too slow?
also, lionwizard will not be on the team
sarah started a chat with all team members to find out first of all their names. if you guys would like i'll be able to integrate the (real) names into our website as well. or should i rather ask who would like to have that?
i'll have a little forum on the website as well, however as non paying members there we have limited space only and will not be able to password it!
does anyone know some other free space on the web where we can do that?

i would like to thank reubenfine for being on the team. after 5 time outs he resigned from team play, i offered him to stay on the team, but private reasons didn't allow him to stay with us...
i would like to welcome Crogamestar on the team at the same time. i have a very good feeling that i didn't find a replacement, but a much better play and an enrichment for the team.
regarding the forums, i decided to not post anymore at all in the forums, not even read them, except our team forum. i think it's very sad, besause the forums where for me a big part on GK, they used to be the reason why i actually joined this website, but attacks/insults/wrong assumtions from certain players/posters make it for me impossible to post without getting very mad about ignorant, stupid, low minded and arrogant people. if i would reply to the recent posts, i'll get banned from the forums and not being able to lead our team forum anymore.
if there are any questions, please feel free to contact me private for my opinion, i'll not read/anser forum posts for a long time anymore.
i've been insulted, put down, agrevated and being compared with a fool for giving suggestions and my humble opinion.
i've even had to read that from following list all players are supposed to be one person (me!). THIS IS NOT TRUE AND A LIE!

from that list i know personaly my girlfriend, inukshuk and my ex neighbor chic_luc (who brought me to this website).
i've chatted with a few from those people, but never seen in my life. the rest i havn't even contacted ever nor do i know who they are!
i've been accused of telling my team mates to drop their rating in order to get easy team matches and beeing accused of being a cheater myself (in a form i don't even know!).
these accusations are rediculous and not true! i have nothing to do with anything like that and i will never do!
in the past i've refused team matches because they looked to easy for my team mates and have even verified a few times if that particular captain would realy like to have a match like that. i've always being proud of being honest and trying to help everyone! regardless of in my team or not! (...i'll still do in the future, tho, don't worry)
i'm very disapointed and feel very insulted at the same time.
being insulted from players who don't know you, who never spoke to you private and who have no prove of what they saying, no ASSUMING!

i'll promise to still stand up for the team at every time, to help out where i can and give as many suggestions as needed. i'll be there for you just as in the past.

I'll play you, and i'm sure chees will play you as well. mvathr usualy doesn't say no (you won't regret against him, he got great ideas!), dialos is great, experimantator gave me too many headaches in the past, ....
well, to make long stories short, i'm sure that if you just contact the players individualy, there will be no team player who would say no to an unrated game.

currently after all those losses and some timeouts we are now back to place 28, however from place 3 we are seperated by only 100 points. so that could be a nice goal to achieve for us.

i used to do those statistics, but i used to have 1 or 2 players on the team who where actually interested in it. the others found it "informative" but not essencial so i stopped doing that.
but if you are interested into that, i would like to give you two links:

i'm still trying to resolve/find the cause of the differences between internet explorer and netscape. for some reason internet explorer doesn't like our team name and shoews a different immage than netscape does. if anyone got an idea how to fix it or knows who to ask for, i would apreciate any help i can get to reflect the netscape image only (on GK and on our website)
so far so good, i'm sick and will go have a nap now. maybe i get lucky and will not wake up from caughing and running nose and will sleep until tomorrow morning :)

uses non-standard characters. Mike defines each of his web pages as "charset=iso-8859-1" which is the standard Latin 1 character set. 8859-1 only has characters through #255 (more than enough for most English, French, German, Spanish, etc.). The graphical characters in the team name are #9600 and #9604. These are unicode characters - the UTF-8 character set (made more for Arabic, Chinese, Korean, etc). IE has to be set up to view unicode since the page has specified Latin 1. Netscape doesn't require any special set up; it just queries the OS and finds what it needs. Same with Mozilla and Firefox.
So, if you (or whomever) are using IE, you will not see the correct characters unless you set up IE to do so. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do to fix it so other people will see what you want - other than choosing standard characters from the iso-8859-1 character set.

I do not want to make comments to running games.
But:
Just stay calm and play the games to their end.
Remember chess is also a game of psychology.
You may not like it that he is waiting 3 days for his move,
but it is his right to do so even if other people would consider this
unsportsmanlike.
Anyhow, the most important for you is to stay calm!

Also I'm involved in an internship program in Indo-American Chamber of Commerce. I used to teach Tennis but I am a soccer fan.
About chess...

for today, if i counted right, we have so far 6 wins and 1 loss, which should clearly reflect in the teams table tomorrow if we don't get some more losses as well.
regarding my last post in the teams forum:
i had to say what i said. one captain got banned in the same forum three times for saying public what he thought. i might get banned from the forum as well.
which doesn't mean that i'll not be there for the team. i'll still be arguing with other captains about their unfair matchups and still get gray hair about analyzing games from team members to them tell them off after the game ended ;p
in case i get banned i would like to nominate a spokesman for the team to introduce new team members, let the team knowing whats going on at GK and so on...
is there anyone who would like to post for the next 6 months as a captains assistant in case i get banned from the forums?
also tolgas i like that statement that you used to teach tennis but being soccer fan and instead playing on GK chess :)

i would also like to point out again, that our "team logo" and website is best viewable with netscape, not with internet explorer which is not flexible and developed enough.

As you can see, my last message was just postman duty; it is actually kai_sim posted report (you know that he was banned from forum, :-(, but we can override such banning...).
I like to thank kai_sim for giving me an express match; looking at our teammate table I become jelous for you guys (and girls) who played (and won) so many games for our team. Well, as non-paying member, I must calculate with only 20 games and parallel playing tournaments and team matches, so... that is life.
I hope that we all together can stay at top of the team table, I think that we deserve this.

I don't exactly know a lot of openings or what all they're meant to do, which is an area that I need to strengthen. I'm joining this team basically because I was asked to. I didn't really have any idea there were teams on this, and I'm still not entirely sure as to what all happens in a team. No clue what to expect, but I'm sure it's going to be fun.

My name is Francesc and I'm from Girona, in Spain (30/35 miles from Barcelona, to the north). I've been accepted as a member of the team just today and I'm expecting to bring very good news to the team in order to be always in the top 5. I begun playing chess 3 years ago, a bit late I know, since I'm 25. However, I think I'm an easy-and-quick learner and I love chess to the soul. I use to play London System as white player and Sicilian Defence as black (Paulsen variation is my favourite). This year I feel really prepared and ready to win some games in the tornaments I want to play. I've the lowast rate in spain, just because I've three jobs and I cannot play most of tournaments, since they are based on a swiss system. But next monday, october the 3rd I will begin to play as a "semi-professionel" player here in Girona, my new town, where the regional tornament takes place, wish me good luck please, I'll need it!

I'd like to say hello to you all, I'm your new team member. I'm Finnish, my hometown is Jyväskylä and my real name is Matti. I'm a student of computer science and I'm 25 years old. Chess is one of my passions, though I have played it seriously only a few years. Currently I play only online, and I like to study chess books at home. I don't know my real rating, i will do the elo test but now I haven't got time. On gameknot, I'm nearing 1700 and on another correspondence chess site I'm about 2000. I prefer queen pawn openings (saemisch as white, king's indian as black) and my clear weakness is the opening. In end game I'm stronger, I guess. Mostly, I play by instinct and don't analyze very deeply, which sometimes leads to my downfall.
I take my games very seriously and intend to never ever timeout. I think the stupidest way to win the game is by timeout, so I will not cause that to happen to anyone. I wish to help this team at my best. Special greetings to lionwizard, who convinced me to join this team and was very insistent about it. ;) Good games to everyone, I don't wish good luck ever; chess isn't about luck, nor should it be. ;)

My nick is vandy and my name is Tom. I live in extreme western Kentucky. I am a retired oral & maxillofacial surgeon who now has a web-based business brokering industrial parts. That keeps me pretty busy with the design and maintenance of a site running 1.25 million hits/month. I also have a computer networking business.
Chess is my distraction. I come to you from Chuck's Knights where I played very happily until the team folded recently. I've played chess for over 40 years now but only recently taken it _somewhat_ seriously. I play MTs and a few other games for fun (blitz style) but I play team games to the best of my (limited) abilities.

I am sorry to say that I lost my first games by time out. I was puzzled how this could have happenend to me since te last time I was at the site I still had 19 hours to move in those games then I realised that I had made a stupid calculation error wich led to me missing the deathline by two hours. Damn they could have been nice games. Hopefully I have better news in the future
