nice title, though super friends V the forum was a much sleeker title, and ummm.....super friends 6?? was quite possibly the worst title ever. i think you've landed in the middle with this one. also....i like the roman numerals, and next time i post a new forum i'm so using them.

You're right puppy_king. Although team scores do fluctuate pretty wildly from day to day, we've been fairly consistent as a team in getting more wins than losses. That's the kind of effort that keeps us up in the top of the more than 400 active teams here at GameKnot.

Sorry puppy king, I'll have to intervene and say soccer is much more important (even girls) than ultimate frisbee. My brother, who lives in Anchorage, recently took a group of youth on an ultimate frisbee outing. They had 6 inches of snow during the game and were having trouble with visibility so finally had to give it up and head inside, which is when the power went out.

He used to play soccer (on the same college team home_alone played for) but decided it wasn't as interesting.

in other words, I don't know. I watched the same episode three times and was still smiling at the funny parts.

I ran across a piece about annatto this last week. Apparently, dairymen for years have been adding the red dye to cheshire, cheddar, and other cheeses to achieve a consistency of color from season to season and region to region. Apparently, it's a marketing ploy that's several hundred years old. Harmless deception? Or a glimpse at capitalism's diabolical nature?

Orange cheese isn't natural ???!

Message:
Not much of a bombshell, really. I think it's fair to say that most pepole would have guessed that
some coloring was added to cheese, at least the bright orange cheeses. If it brings you any
comfort, annatto is a natural product (so is arsenic).

If it is a deception to add annatto to cheese, it is the same kind of deception used in any meal
preparation where
aesthetics are taken into consideration. Better presentation makes the meal yummier (that's the
same as nummier, BTWG). Orange cheese = delicious.

By the way, they add annatto to butter and mustard, too. Sinister bastards.

Hey, here's a novelty: I have a vacuous thought about team play here at GameKnot. It seams to
me that the only way for a team to climb to the top and stay there is for players on that team to
somewhat consistently play above their respective ratings. To me, it seams there is really only
one 'honest' way for that to happen: players on that team must continually improve. For example,
if you play at a level equal your rating, and your opponents do the same, you have a roughly 50/
50 shot at winning when paired against someone with a similar rating (depending on piece color).
That suggests that team rankings will bounce around somewhat randomly without continual
improvement. *Continual* improvement is necessary, because once you improve, your rating
goes up and your chances to win equilibrate at 50/50.

It's as obvious as the coloring added to orange cheese.

It's not my place, however, to offer a solution to this metaphysical dillema.
eric, fix it now!

I had fun in Oregon. Regarding annatto, it's also in lipstick and chocolates. Sorry about my less-than-aggressive appearances as captain. I am working on a scheme that may bring me fame but not necessarily fortune. Will keep you updated as I work out the details. Right now, however, it's mostly just work. We start test-market studies on Wednesday.

Continual improvement. Sounds like a good plan. I wonder how many of you would be interested in "study games." Pizzakeith is playing me for fun and education. It gives us a chance to discuss different maneuvers and identify weaknesses in our games. I know several other Super Friends are already playing each other. Why not use this as an opportunity to analyze each other's play and experiment? Worried about your rating? You can always play unrated games by checking the appropriate box when you issue a challenge.

Anyone else have ideas for how we can get better individually and as a team?

Anyway, I get enough of that "let's work as a team" and "the team is only has strong as the weakest person" at school. I'm tired of being part of the machine all day. So why must I do it here?

Fun in Oregon included some of the following (although not necessarily in this order):
1. Climbing out on the roof of a four-story building in the rain because I couldn't find my shoes.
2. Looking for dead animals washed up on the beach.
3. Identifying multiple varieties of mud (from the dark loam of the Spring Lake shallows to the reddish, rocky clay on Charlotte's Mountain). I'm told that experts can do this by touch and taste alone.
4. Tillamook Cheese Factory (lots of free samples).
5. Hydroplaning.
6. Riding up and down the elevators in Portland's historic buildings.

Regarding being a cog in the Super Friends machine: We probably need a new metaphor.
