Well done to evryone, October was probably the most succesful month to date for the team - we rose to the heady heights of 10th in the team table, so lets see if we can maintain this performance.
There are some difficult challenges in progress, as I am not a captain to refuse a challenge simply because we are out rated.

Hi jeff,
The 10th place was based on ELO. I tend not to look at the score bit, as teams that have been around for years should be well ahead really. There again, I don't think the current ELO system works either!! It appears that massive shifts in position can occur with relatively few extra results - hopefully Mike (webmaster) will sort this out soon.
The game with lucasvervoort was certainly interesting - strangely as it might seem, I was actually playing a book line until he devaited after my Bh3 !!! - he demonstrated that the book doesn't necesasarily know everything - it claimed it was a draw at that point!!
Any plans to resume team games at all yet - hopefully your so called slump in form has ended - just let me know.

HI everyone, i play in the mini tournament and i play all my games on the same time, but i have lost 2 gmes against the same opponent (odonata) due to timeout. How can that be? i mean each time i play my moves the time left is more than 3 days. These are the only games i have lost in more than 70 rated games in gameknot.
How does time control in the mini tournament work?
I'm really sa, for i had a wiining position.

The time control in that mini tournament means that you get 1 day added to your time remaining each time you make a move, up to a maximum time remaining of 5 days.
Don't worry about what happened - it is more of a concern to your record.
I hope this explains how the system works and I hope you can work out what went wrong. If you still don't know how the timeout happened, send a message to the webmaster, and he will be able to check that the system didn't go wrong.

PS Apologies if people run short of games over the Christmas period - so many GK players postpone at this time, that myself and the other captains can have difficulties arranging matches - we cannot include players in new challenges if:
1) they have vacation flag set
2) they haven't logged on to GK for 2 days
3) they have too many games going already for their membership type
4) they have too many accounts on their computer.
If you find you haven't any new games being arranged, it is probably due to one of the reasons above

Thanks to everyone for their efforts during this busy month. Some excellent results obtained by many members of the team - well done to all.
Once again, the monthly player award was closely fought, with ammp04 finally coming out on top for a month, after having been second for the previous two months!!

Additional congratulations go to torbalan and wolsky who have both completed their sections in the Team Rivalry Tournament, finishing 1st and 2nd in their respctive groups and both scoring excellent points for the team in the overall competition.
