scoring

Message:
Sorry, I'm sure this is dumb, but how does the team scoring work?
Are teams better rated by their score or their team ELO? If I were to have a
brainstorm and beat a player 600 points above me, would the team score go up
based on the difference between our individual ELOs or by team ELOs.
Sorry, can't find this info elsewhere, probably a HOC.

Good call by the Evertonian though !!
But I've got to be honest at the start of the season, even the most bias of Evertonians would not have predicted what has happened so far. Mid December 2nd in the premiership, ahead of both Man U and Arsenal and 12 pts ahead of "the other lot" having beaten them for the first time in 5 years - Go Figure ???

!

Message:
Everton are on target for 80 points. In 1997, 98 & 99 that would have won the title, and Man United won it with 80 points in 2001.

Maintaining championship challenging form for seventeen games is no fluke, but it makes no sense. It's an amazing turn around from last season, and you have to give Moyes full credit.

The Reds will already have a trophy in the bag by the time they get the revenge on March 19th, but the Blues may still be up there in the table fighting for European qualification.

Sorry Starkberlin...

Message:
Having said I would be happy to play other members of the team, I was challenged to a game by starkberlin. Unfortunately I did not give my opponent the respect he deserves and I have been justly punished, being forced to resign after 25 moves. Well played team mate, I am sorry you did not have the opportunity to help you improve your game.
Anyone else who'd like a pop at me, send a challenge by all means and I'll try to restore a little pride...

4th in the league!

Message:
Wow! Just checked and we've moved up to 4th place in the league table which is pretty darned impressive. And the captain and ex-captain are leading by example with some hefty positive scores. My last opponent has shown some seasonal generosity and let me beat him as well which makes a nice change. My New Years resolution is to get back into a positive score for the team :o)

So well done team, keep plugging away and lets see if we can't get to No.1. And if anyone wants an intra-team game feel free to throw a challenge my way. I'm a model of inconsistency right now - some games I've played an absolute blinder and others I've played a shocker - so if you're a gambler then lets have a game and see what mood you catch me in.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
Phil

charity proposals??????

Message:
I think i'm correct in saying that the score was 59 at the end of the year so can we come to an agreement of where the cheque should be sent, i suppose with what happened in the Indian ocean its pretty obvious, but which organisation?

i'd rather it went to one that actually spent the money at the sharp end, than one that takes a percentage for administration.so anyone have any preferences?

cheers

A team thing

Message:
<start Red Baiting>
Aye Aye!! even Everton beat Watford on a neutral ground though, Wembley I think it was called, 1984 in a proper cup !! final as well. Still the "Mickey Mouse" is a way of qualifying for Europe I suppose.
</start Red baiting>

Only joshing boys :-))

Just a team building idea if anybody is interested.......

I've come across skype lately It's a way of talking over the internet. All you need is the software (which you can download free from www.skype.com) and a mike attached to your PC. Install the software and you can chat away as if your on the phone, again it's all for nowt. You can set up conference calls where 4 people can all talk to each other at the same time.

My idea is this : We have 2 teams of 4 players each (say a red team and another team) then decide on two players to start an unrated game with a 3 day time limit and make 5 moves each to get the game going. Then all the team members get together on skype at a predetermined time "say 8pm on the last day of the time limit" and discuss what move to make.

It would be good if we had even ratings on both teams. It doesn't have to be limited to just 2 teams.
I'm happy to start the game for the non red team I need 3 players to join me Oh ! and I need a red team starter and 3 team players to play against

Any body interested
Stan

Firstly I must apologise

Message:
I have timed out in two team games. I have been very busy at work and had other things on, but it is still not good enough. One of the games I would have lost anyway, but I was sure the other was a win.

2. Glad you agree about Oxfam Vulc, I'll get mine in the post as well.

3. There's still work to be done against Watford, but 1-0 is a decent result in my opinion. And when I'm in Cardiff in late February, I'll spare a thought for Everton... The Blues are moving in the right direction though, so next time they come up against Arsenal under-12s they might keep the defeat to just the one goal!

4. That's a great idea Stan, I'd happily join the Red team, but I doubt I have the time to be the leader.

An apology on behalf of our Captain...

Message:
Hi everybody! It's my first post since Christmas, I'd like to add my welcome to that of our captain to any new members of the English Defence who have joined us in the last few months...

Unfortunately tkdman is having trouble with his 'puter and he has had to get it collected for some diagnostics. He's put his vacation flag up and will return as soon as he can. He does have net access from work as I do but he is extremely busy and cannot find time to organise challenges etc. from work.

I hope this delay doesn't discourage all you who are hungry for new games, our captain will return soon...

Regards to all, keep up the good work! mercury_whyte

2:- hire a suit of armour, go into a hotel wearing it and ask for ''a room for a knight''
3:- the next time your in a pub, go to the first person with a beard and give them a big kiss (as your in Germany you must then tell us what she says)
4:- and finally this is the most important.............don't timeout
