Subject: Nightfever Homepage 2
Message: Ab fab - we finished an entire page.
That much promised analysis will be here soon..... Just don't hold your breathe.
Baja.... The reason no one else posted was because you took up the last slot.
Lochess.... Dare you to put your last post to me on this page.... :). It was very funny by the way.
Anyway should back in business soon. Nearly got rid of most of my games, so it will leave me free to ramble to myself on this team page.
Although I said I would let you know before assigning team games, I lied. Need to think this over carefully because most other teams want a response there and then, so it is very difficult.
Hollie well done for the win.
Thats all for the moment folks...... Many ramblings to be posted soon, oh by the way dont forget the link below.

I began writing looking for an excuse to my pitiful performance in recent team games, but in fact, I found none... Has there been some changes in the page coding that would require me to get some updates for something on my comp (I gave up on trying to get Windows XP's service pack 2 the third time it had me format my comp but I got all the other Windows updates)? By the way, I reduced my maximum number of team games to 2, I can barely find some time when I may have both my body and my mind in front of a working computer since I've been having trouble with my own...

And since you chose to beguile my friend..
I'll warn you now...it's coming to an end
So get all the garlic you can from the farms..
And spray Holy Water under those hairy arms..
Beware of rats, and devils hooves...
And bats that cry, and unknown wolves!
You put him on your ignore list -what the heck?
Did you think it would be worth those marks on your neck?
For Tudor comes from Romania...Ha, Ha, ha

Tudors, out of this sorry state of affairs, just out of interest you didn't get her phone number before you er well you know, you were put onto her igore list. No, no well I was just making enquiries you know for the sake of the team. If you did a personal email will do, wouldnt want to make these things public...

Oh well, we all need to pull together on this one and step up another few gears (what we're in 5th already? well, step on the accelerator and hope the engine don't blow!)
Well done to all on achieving 7th place, it's great to see us continually on the move up. When I joined I think we were 11th, fighting the Womens team for 10th.
I am really busy with work at the moment (hence my long posponement) but I will be soon to bolster our team's efforts ... I think I should win a good proportion of my team games (that is to say I don't look like I'll lose at the moment, but there's always the possibility of a mistake isn't there!).

3/16/2005 15:30:18 [ report this post ] | Running out on games
Message: Peter said something about Night Fever members running out on games - does this mean members of our team are using Timeouts to avoid, well, postpone actually, losing?
I hope that is not the case. When you gracefully resign a lost game, the Team loses a point, but we gain a small measure of respect with our opponents because you followed chess etiquette.
When you drag out a lost game, or worse, allow it to Timeout, the Team loses a point AND the Team as a whole to some small degree must now bear the albatross of your unfortunate and improper decision.
If we win, let us win with grace and skill. If we lose, let us represent ourselves and our Team by showing our opponents the proper respect.
I realize I am new and may not have earned a right yet to speak in such a manner. When it comes to conducting ourselves, I think we all have an obligation to remind each other of the standards we expect of each other (and of ourselves).
Be well.

Message: No I meant our team members were literally running out of games. Look Fsubear and Donnie dont have any matches at all. (The word on needs to be replaced by of - I did mention it was a waste of time reading the monthly update)
The timeouts were a different matter, which most teams dont stand for.
However Nighsight has raised a good point. In the forum discussion boards it is common acceptance that timing out a game is considered poor etiquette (apologies Robertowen) and is not really acceptable.
If as players we feel it is unacceptable to timeout on other teams (which I think it is) before passing or allocating new games to a teammember that has timed out, I could insist on requesting for that person to reinstate the game and either resign or finish the match.
Nighsight on your last point. Many matches I have seen resigned when our player was maybe one piece like a bishop or knight down. At my level you can guarantee your opponent will make at least one mistake. I suggest that players actually keep going as you can often salvage a draw or win. See my result against Biachhi (apologies for spelling). Probably different at the higher levels.
Comments please?

3/17/2005 23:19:23 [ report this post ] | It's been a while
Message: I haven't written for a while but I took the time to read the posts once in a while...
First, Nighsight : Don't feel like you have not been part of the team for long enough to tell your opinion, it only shows you have the guts to confront your point of view to the others'. I hate those generally accepted thoughts, it almost feels academic, but that still is what I meant to say... Oh and don't forget this doesn't apply to me, you must always accept my words as universal truth for if you doubted my words, then you would doubt your opinion's right to be told (because I just said you should think by yourself), and you would conclude yourself not intelligent enough to make an opinion. This would make you realize that you cannot say I'm wrong and you would be forced to accept the opinion I just annonced saying that your opinion counts and I'm always right... :)
Second, Tudors : It is always easier to seduce with text (even though I'm personnally more easily convinced through oral... I mean spoken words!). That is because you have more time to think of what you write, that's true, but also because the memories of a moment is volatile while a letter stands as a tangible proof of your feelings toward a girl. I always think things through before writing something for a girl to make sure the way I write is as beautiful as the feelings I want to express... I could never write such a dull, meaningless word as love or any other words that represent a common feeling known of everyone to describe such an important emotion as my own desire toward a girl (I'm a native french speaker, and I haven't developped my vocabulary deeply enough to do the same in english)... By the way, a girl is never cute, she has a beautiful smile, innoncent eyes or nice looking hair, it sounds much better...

3/19/2005 04:15:56 [ report this post ] | Second part...
Message: Any of you realized my last post ws quite short? That is why I will now continue on the same subject : you're the flower of my spring, the sun of my summer, the colors of my autumn and the heat of my winter... I had my little brother (16 years old) write (a french translation of) this to his girl. I hope her reaction to "the heat of my winter" wasn't too bad...
About Baja's story : a team filled with 30 players rated 1200 could get on the top, it is all about the players they are opposed to. That means the top is accessible to any team that is lucky enough to win the most fair games (with both players equally rated), it seems like it's all about luck to me (we could send spies in other teams that will lose all of their games, but that doesn't soud very fair, let's talk about it somewhere private :) ...) ... Seriously, I think the odds go for the team with a captain that knows how to analyse player weaknesses and strenghs by looking at their games so that the games go to people who have more chances of winning. All that to say you won't have more chances to get to the top with another team unless they don't play fair, so why change! Even though I wandered off subject, what I'm particularly interested in is to know is why do they all want to become the no. 1 team at all cost!? There will be no one who knows you personnally that will ever learn about it if you ever achieve it, so all you'll gain is self-esteem and the pride of acheving something, but if you get it through seducing other players (I heard it might have literally been a seduction...), accepting only easy challenges and the likes, your self-esteem won't increase much and you won't have the feeling you achieved something at all!!! By the way, a team captain that seduces players by saying he's a girl HAHAHA!!!
