Yes ..good news, we are on our way back from our Important Secret Mission to the Alpha 5.4 system. It's seems we accidentally left Social Dude on Mother Earth. He's allegedly compiling "interesting statistics" for our Annual Twice-Yearly Pawn Star Awards and the ship just can't function without him. *snort* So get a move on SD ..we're waiting.
First of all I'd like to thank ladyinred527 for kindly volunteering to start the new Federation thread. If no one has any objection ( and I don't care if you do) I'd just like to take this opportunity to simplify her opening post and reiterate what she just said.
So just a couple of points first up:
For those of you tuning in hoping to see the continuation of the Women's WWF from the previous forums. Sorry.. but there's going to be no more scratchin', hissin' and hair pullin' from the girls. Not too much more anyway.
I also would like to address a previous comment, made by viva I believe, in the last forum about it being a "another Pawn Star thread" I assure you it was not intended to be and neither is this. It seems "Another Pawn Star Thread" has become the generic GK term for any forum that I do a post or two in and/or one which turns into a shambles. Believe me, it's not one of our threads unless it has gru88y and George Michael in it..but I digress.
Back to the topic. For those who missed the previous two rounds of mischief and mayhem, and I know there are are few of you judging by your confused messages to me, here are the culprits again:
gameknot.com/fmsg/chess5/2032.shtml
gameknot.com/fmsg/chess5/2039.shtml
In addition to the teams mentioned by me as Official Participants in the previous forum, I would also like to announce that The Sneaky Knight Connection has now become part of The Federation.
We would like to keep this thread going and I'm sure, once the tribbles are ironed out, it might prove to be something worthwhile ...or not. That's up to you.
So if you have anything about your team you want us to know, any comments, problems, ideas or recipes for tribbles, post them here.

Message: I have been looking at other teams for a couple of years now, and I am slowly starting to re-think a lot of what other teams do, like having an assigned coach, and co-captain(s). (Yes Leelu, this means you!) I have having a DEVIL of a time getting more than one person at a time to volunteer to be a coach. I have seen other teams with several coaches, so what gives? Is it me, and lack of sales skills, or do I have a very shy team?
And to the ladies out there, do you know that tribbles can be very good for your hair? The essential oils one gets from a correctly crushed tribble does wonders for "problem hair." (And seeing as we Andorians live on what is really a big ball of ice, we need as much help in such areas as we can get.) So while you're whipping up tribble fondue, you might want to keep this in mind. That is, if the entire tribble isn't used.

I know I 'm not very smart but here's a thought, why don't we split this captain's forum into two separate forums, we can call one the Serious Captains' Issues Forum That We All Agree We Wanted And Needed and we could call the other one The Stupid Rantings And Ravings Of Ridiculous Rubbish And Crap That No-One Really Cares About Or Understands. if anyone has trouble understanding what I'm talking about send me a pm and I'll see if I can explain it any clearer.

Message: Stardate : 123457.1
Picking up a strange and eerie transmission from an alien life form now. Oh hi chilliman ..it's just you. Well I do see where you are coming from. I, initially, was a bit doubtful about this working too. In fact towards the end of the last forum, I had pretty much decided to pull our team out of it. I know I said to you, at some point, that it wasn't really working and, admittedly, it wasn't going that well but there's no real reason why it can't in future. We can strike a happy medium here... I think. There has been more interest in the idea in the last day or so. Of course if you want a totally serious forum that is your prerogative and we can't blame you for that. Why don't you start the alternate one then if that's your thing? soarrehelle's original idea was to introduce a fun aspect and that's the Star Trek bit. We don't expect everyone to understand or approve but you really don't have to. No one is being forced to read this or post in here.
To Soarehelle. Just pick someone likely looking and ask them. Make it sound REALLY attractive ...or threaten them with execution if that doesn't work. We have had a Coach ( srpen) pretty much since our team started a year ago and he's now also the Co Captain. srpen does our website www.pawnstars.org/ and has helped me from the beginning with most of the team stuff. I owe a lot of what The Pawn Stars are today to him. I originally got the idea about having a Team Coach from the team Nemesis. Everytime I'd challenge them they would say" we have to clear it with the Coach". So of course I thought that was something we had to have. We also have apastpawn and abegtrup ( Social Dude) who play unrated games and offer advice to any one, team or otherwise, who needs some help with Things Chessy. Social Dude also organizes our team tournaments (tournaments really aren't my thing) and keeps track of whose winning what, where and when. I think that what he does anyway
I tried tribbles on my hair but they kept sliding off. Oh..right.. crush them first you say? :-)
Btw here's an interesting link about Gene Roddenberry's original concept of women in Star Trek.

I agree with you, chess is a game and it is fun and there are lots of fun threads in the forums, but I refer back to the original intention of this particular thread and that was to create a sanctuary for captains to discuss their issues and problems. this was to hopefully benefit all captains in that we could assist each other and where necessary come to some consensus on suggested enhancements to propose to the GK administrator. or did I get it wrong? does anyone agree with me or are you too intimidated by the more loquacious, verbose, effusive, dominant captains.
Let me put it another way.... if we as captains don't take this thread seriously then don't expect Mike to.
It appears chosing you as one of my eternal rivals was a wise decision xena as I would hate us to agree too often.

3/15/2005 00:02:54 [ report this post ] | TO CLARIFY HOW THIS STARTED AND WHY:
Message: This is an open invatation to anyone who wants to join. Just like the TV show, "Star Trek," we're forming an association of teams to help and support one another, and to have a bit of fun. Some teams will "become" the races on the show (the Klingons are already taken,) and hopfully behave accordingly. We're going to have team tournies against each other, of course we'll have matches, run "Federation" threads, and we're working on how to have "gatherings" for team members and captains. If you're not a team captain, but want to be in the Federation, let us know and we'll work something out.
******! This will be in part for play, and in part serious. !********
I will let everyone know what's next. So far we have the Pawn Stars, (the klingons) The ArSam Empire (now how could they NOT be one of the Federation) The Red Rook Foundation, Wasskaly Wabbits & Morose Moose and will hopefully have more teams soon. To join all you have to do is say you want to join. There is no leader here, and no one's going to lay down any rules, except one: obey the rules of this site and the ones that govern these forum pages. We're thinking right now that this will be a club for captains, but as I said, you need not be a captain to join! Soon we're going to start working on our frist order of business, but right now we want to start getting people aware of us so they can join if they like. So please, respond here or to me, or to any of the captains I've listed. Oh, and please, we're looking for imput and ideas for things to do, if you have some, share them. To all the teams and players here at GameKnot: "Live Long & Prosper!"
Above is the start of all this, I have said over and over again, with some give and take, this thread can be both.

So you want to know why I think other teams incorporate their members as "co-captains",

they're given titles and little is expected of them, you'll be pleasantly surprised when they live

In addition, we have a Vice-Captain aucklander7, but he's a bit of a ghostly presence. He's the one who egged me on to start the team. I was going to have an all-female one originally and I wanted to call it 'The Pawn Queens'. He talked me out of that and suggested 'The Pawn Stars' and here we are today..and I'm still the only Queen in the team. We also have a Bouncer 120kz ( he's an Italian pitbull I tell ya) and future-proof, who is the Official Tour Guide of Exotic Locations and Wildlife/Nightlife...which means he does the occasional post on the best pubs to visit. Hummmmm, that didn't come out just the way I hoped it would but I'm leaving it; maybe "My Fingers Will Go On, " because I'm typing?" With all new things, at first there will be a BIG interest, then bodies will drop like flies, and if whatever it is, is lucky enough to hold on long enough, it will pick people back up. I think that this Federation will need just a little while more; so yes, we're not looking real good right, not too many people are posting, but the water is ONLY up to my knees, so I'm not dead yet.
In other areas, once again I was trying to get a team match together, and by the time I messaged a teammate and told him to please hold open a slot for a game, he had filled it, so the team challenge was shot to hell. Now most of the time when I send out a team challenge and I then scrap it, it's because I've filled my team's games. (I like to go "fishing," that is, if I need one person to get a match, I just send out challenges until I hit the right match up for the person - and at times that can take up to three or four trys.) So does anyone else have this problem of sending out a team match, only to have to take it back because by the time it's set up, your teammate has his/her total number of games? I don't want to make them feel too forced into anything, and for the most part they always make some room for me, but still, it just gets a bit bothersome at times.
