Hello, peterf!

I apologize for my lack of moves in a timely manner. I'm working out of town and under heavy deadlines. drron and I were carrying on an converstation that "I" found interesting. I could have been one sided (much like the game!) ;) Thus, I tended to spend more time on his game just to keep the gab flowing. I should have resigned "many moons ago". Also, I try to notice the players with limited number of games and make moves faster. Especially, when I have the vacation flag set.

Answer to longest game question

Message:
peterf
I FINALLY have an internet connection at home and can get the answer to your very interesting question. The following applies to CURRENT GBH teammates only. I did not include any ex-teammembers in this analysis as it would have taken a lot longer.

I played through all 18,666 games ;) completed by our 30 current team members and this is what I found:

The five longest games in terms of number of moves are:
panga74 - pion8 0-1 21.05.2006 133 moves
red_pawn - almafuerte 0.5-0.5 30.11.2004 102 moves
murbot - julianlore 0-1 31.07.2004 101 moves
thedrum - trond 0.5-0.5 26.08.2005 98 moves
lazarus_a - cubanisimo 0-1 25.12.2002 97 moves

The six longest TEAM games in terms of number of moves are:
winugly - julianlore 0-1 14.04.2006 96 moves
ronlumm - pgawest 0-1 06.11.2003 93 moves
dobber - peterf 1-0 23.12.2004 91 moves
sonofcaissa - moonlately 0.5-0.5 31.10.2005 91 moves
ronlumm - gm_paz 0-1 20.07.2004 89 moves
mikkorepo - peterf 1-0 13.06.2006 88 moves

Happy Hunting!

GBH Team Tourney

Message:
The GBH Team Tourney has been a stinky project and I would prefer to continue letting him handle it. I know you are planning on some extended time away from GK, but you can always be entered into the tournament and you will remain in "pending" status until you return and accept the invitation to the tournament. Your games would not start until you return. If stinky is does not return for an extended period of time (let's hope this is not the case), then I will organize a tournament in September, after summer is over for us northern hemisphere residents. If stinky returns and organizes the tourney while you are gone, I would be happy to make sure you are entered in the tournament, pending your return.

Internet service and more

Message:
I have now completed five weeks on my new job. Things are going well, although I am still not sure what the long term responsibilities are for my position. I must learn patience. One month after placing my order for internet, I now have internet service at home. That certainly lowered the stress level for me. Never knew I was that dependent on access to the internet. It’s almost like losing electricity in your house. When the electricity is off in your house you walk around turning on lights or the television unconsciously. When you don’t have internet, you are constantly wanting to check your email.

I signed up for internet by satellite as the area where I live does not have DSL or cable and dialup is unthinkably slow. Pretty satisfied so far. Definitely slower than the 6mb cable rate I had grown accustomed to, but adequate.

So I am settled in at my temporary housing and have finally settled on a floorplan for the house I am building. That will probably take another 4-6 months. Still have the old house to sell and I will eventually have to sell the temporary house I am in now.

So nothing much going on in my life. How about you? Anything interesting going on out there with you Bounty Hunters? Let’s hear a little chatter!!!

Football

Message:
It's about that time again - US Football season is upon us. I am switching switching my allegiance this year from the Dallas Cowboys to the Tennessee Titans. Can't wait to see if Vince Young is as great in the pros as he was in college.

Or if you want to talk about "real" football, who are you pulling for in the World Cup? My favorite is England. I'll be watching that one on Saturday. The referees this cycle seem like they have a yellow card glued to their hand. I wish the games could be decided by the players and not the refs.

Any comments, friends?
