8/02/2006 06:30:48 [ report this post ] | Hello...
Message: Obviously, I'm Brandy...live in the Baltimore, Maryland USA area...not been playing chess all that long in terms of strategy (although I've been moving the pieces around since I was a child).
I am addicted to the game :)
I also see great things happening with this team. We have our ups and our downs, but I think in the long run we're doing very well overall.
As a personal milestone, I was down in the negatives pretty far and have concentrated on my team games enough to turn those numbers around. For those of you who feel you are in a bit of a slump, don't sweat it. You'll be fine.

Message: I'm Erik. I live in Gaithersburg, MD. I love chess.
Yup, that's it. I'm not much of a player - USCF rating is around 1400 - but I'll answer any questions that I can.

8/02/2006 11:25:48 [ report this post ] | HI everyone !!
Message: The longer this team goes on thge more it is feeling like a team with more interaction and discussion and I would have to say I am glad to be part of it. I only took up chess a few years ago after a very long absence of some 15-20 years and even then I was only teaching myself by playing my younger brother, so it has been a steep learning curve and I would love some advice on my openings as that is where if I am gonna lose a game that is when it will happen, but any advice or general conversation welcome, my personal info is on my profile page.

8/02/2006 14:09:44 [ report this post ] | advice....
Message: We'll Craig, we're glad to have you a part of it.
As for advice....any advice to my game would be greatly appreciated. I am currently playing an unrated game against Cyrano. Yes, the 2500 player Cyrano! And he is being patient with me. I don't feel worthy to be sharing the same board! But anything I can learn from him would be awesome.
And well, I think the only way to get better is to play people better than I am....which is a lot of people :) So I keep trying.

Message: I would like to, but at the moment life is very busy, both at work and play, so at the moment I would have to decline unless there is a space left when I feel I can give it my attention(maybe in a couple of weeks, or maybe more , and having too many games makes me play badly(well more than usual anyway), but have fun regardless.

8/07/2006 19:48:47 [ report this post ] | gameknot forum vs. outside forum
Message: Somehow, I favor the idea of team discussions here, in the gameknot forums - simple enough. Captain was kind to start one for us. What do you think?

8/08/2006 02:55:06 [ report this post ] | well, whatever is easiest...
Message: for the Team. I'll support. I know that Gravity wants us to use his outside forum, and while I think it's a good idea, I also think it may be easier to discuss things here.
We're all here anyway :)

8/17/2006 01:32:07 [ report this post ] | gameknot forum vs. outside forum
Message: I mean no disrespect to gravity here, but I have a tough enough time replying and keeping on top of my games within gameknot without adding another forum into the equation, so I would like to keep everything together if that is alright with everyone else..

8/23/2006 08:42:09 [ report this post ] | timeouts
Message: what is the policy on time outs, three strikes and your out ?
|
spygirl
8/23/2006 13:45:42 [ report this post ] | Time Out Policy
Message: It's pretty much a liberal "three strikes and you're out" policy...however, I do understand that there are extenuating circumstances and can work with team members on an individual basis as long as those individuals COMMUNICATE with me. Simply timing out and disappearing and not saying anything about it is unacceptable to the team in general. If a team member comes forward and says "I've been having problems with my family, etc." then I'm a lot more understanding.
First incident = written warning
Second incident = suspension of team games for a certain time..I believe we said one month.
Third incident = dismissal from the team.

10/18/2006 11:55:27 [ report this post ] | some more funny coffee wisdom
Message:
You know you are addicted to coffee if
-You grind your coffee beans in your mouth.
-You sleep with your eyes open.
-You have to watch videos in fast-forward.
-You can take a picture of yourself from ten feet away without using the timer.
-You've worn out your third pair of tennis shoes this week.
-The nurse needs a scientific calculator to take your pulse.
-You're so jittery that people use your hands to blend their margaritas.
-You walk twenty miles on your treadmill before you realize it's not plugged in.
-You forget to unwrap candy bars before eating them.
-People get dizzy just watching you.
-You channel surf faster without a remote.
-You have a picture of your coffee mug on your coffee mug.
-You can outlast the Energizer bunny.
-Your nervous twitch registers on the Richter scale.
-You help your dog chase its tail.
-You soak your dentures in coffee overnight.
-Your first-aid kit contains two pints of coffee with an I.V. hookup.
-You ski uphill.
-You get a speeding ticket even when you're parked.
-You answer the door before people knock.
Anybody else to add some? ;o)
