 Subject: Team Mini-Tournaments

Hi everyone!
I am captain of team 'International Chess DOGS' and am trying to orgranize our first mini-tournament for members of our team. It looks like we will be having 3 minis, with 7 players in each. I have been having team mambers who want to play in these minis vote on the following:
1) Rated or non-rated (Rated has the most votes)
2) Each mini having high, medium and low rated players or one mini having high rated, another meduim rated and the last low rated players (Each mini having high, medium and low rated players has the most votes.
Point 1.. I have no real preference
Point 2.. Most of my teammates wanting to play in our minis have a rating 1500 or below. The highest rated players in each mini is about 200 points higher rated than the second highest rated player. So it doesn't seem fair to play 3 minis with high, medium and low rated players in each.
I would like ideas from other captains who have had team mini-tournaments as what has worked best for his/her team.
