Message: Wow so many post. =) Yes there is some business first the time-out issue as everyone know the past month our team rating has been very low due to time-outs one team member has resigned due to time he cant play much. I am greatful for his response after his time-out but other team members have not reponded. And yet are still playing for me I see that as disrespect to the team =(. Now with that over Jon and I have talk of an team vs club Mini Tourney. How is that going? Thanks Eddie

Message: FYI, I am in total favor of booting members from the team that timeout and don't respond to you. I think it's rude and a dis-service to the team.

Message: Guess I should have tried to become an Officer. Looks like all the excitement died after 24 hours of becomming one.
Booting members can be a tricky thing... consider:
A) Is it a "Free Member" of Gameknot? You cannot expect a person who plays here with no real incentive to try hard all the time to be reliable... therefore why have so many of them on the team?
B) Is it a "Paying Member" of Gameknot? Players who pay to play here will have real reasons for timeouts. All should be considered as valid unless a pattern developes. Burn-out happens to the best of us. Try keepng the team games to no more than 8 per player even though they ask for more. You can lose no more than 8 due to time-out that way, and there is incentive to play with more vigor so as to get another game. Those losing frequently; cut down to 2 games until their strength comes back.
----- Not trying to tell anyone what to do, or how to do it, I am a concerned team mate. I shall not comment further in this forum because I am not an Officer or any one of importance. Thanks for your time.

Message: Thanks for joining the thread! I would guess that it's never too late to become an officer. Send Eddie a message and see what he needs! What about coaching? As far as I'm concerned we can't have too many! : - )
And I would say don't worry about posting here at the moment just because you're not an officer. As you can see we've had very little posts, so I say keep posting! Hopefully it will inspire more posting : - )
Regarding the timeouts, you make good points. I understand that time-outs will happen, but my point is that team-mates that timeout and don't send Eddie a message as to why, or just ignore him should not be tolerated. Eddie tries hard to be a good captain and he does a lot here, so he deserves some minimal respect I think.
My 2 sense...

Message: No thank you to an offer of "Officer". As to "trainer", that may be negotiated yet.
The discussion of "time-out" punishment is rather a non-ending one.
So to close with my un-asked-for-opinion upon this matter... it's up to the one with the title of Captain as far as I see it.
I didn't join this team because it was a top team (although I approached by a few of the top teams - and am still being recruited by some) I joined this team because the Captain convinced me that I could play team chess without pressure and be part of a friendly team. I thank him again for allowing me to be part of it.
He will wrestle with TOs and other issues as they come up (and there shall be many) and I am sure he will do a fine job.
We may not always agree with his decision if it does not directly correspond to our personal situation, but we should side with his decision. I expect that hardly any decision of his really affects me personally.
I have introduced a way that we may share chess books in another team forum thread.
I hope that more team mates will use these threads.

Why is that?
What purpose is this forum if there is no inter-action and exchanging of information.
