 Subject: GLOBAL BOUNTY HUNTERS #115

Happppppppppppppppppp New Year everybody!! I hope that you all have had wonderful holidays, and a fantastic new year.
Well I still have one week left of holidays before I have to go back to work. So tonight I sit with a lovely chilled glass of wine, wasting my holidays accordingly. Ahh...tis the life!
Great work to the team ...look at us go up and up!!! We ROCK!
Also, BIG round of applause to Peter.... great job in setting up 'It's a knockout'..... shall be heaps of fun and a good way to get to know fellow team members!! I am currently locked horns with the ever so charming muppyman...wish me luck, I do feel I may need it. :-)

it!
Happy New Year to all the GBH gang...we are more numerous than ever...and I dont get to
know you all like I used to....a bit sad, I think. But anyway, Ive been on the team for awhile
and was the Captain for a short period of time ( we did well! ) I have some health problems
Im working thru and Im counting on 2007 to solve them.
I once had an 18 game streak without a loss in team games and currently have a 5 game run
going...my little source of team fulfillment!
Cheers to Peter for his work on the Tourney...well done! Nice idea to get us a bit more
cohesive...
And many thanks to our team Captain, Grandphish for his monumental efforts in taking the
team score up the ladder...I remember being 160 with a minus sign in front of it! So, we
have come a long way. In many ways, if you don't know, astinkyfart ran this team for
several years and did a crack job of finding great people that actually cared about each other.
I typically enjoy giving him a hard time but today I'll say thank you stinky for all the hard
years when we had no identity and you chiseled one out of rock...with your own muscle.
(probably why it took so long...8)) Of course our Founder (Co-Founder?) was Rich and he'll
drink to that, Im quite sure.
Have a safe, great year and my wish for this team is to continue up the charts and still remain
friends/acqauintences with as many of you as possible....

2006 was a wild and wonderful ride for the Global Bounty Hunters. Here is some information on our team's performance that I thought you might find interesting. I hope each and every Bounty Hunter will take pride in these accomplishments:
We completed 2,277 games, winning 1,094, losing 1,008 and drawing 175 (51.89%) and added 86 games to our total score. Our score increased from 76 on 1/1/06 to 162 on 12/31/06!
In the last 3 months of the year, we completed 700 games, winning 362, losing 292 and drawing 46 (55.0%) for a net gain of 70 points!
We had 10 members who increased their rating more than 66 points during 2006:

Our Captain has just drawn a game against Cyrano who has been rated No 1 on Gameknot for some considerable time This is a fantastic achievement and I recommend that everyone should track thru that game. Then for dessert, play thru the game Grandphish drew with Harpov recently - another absorbing game and great result for Ro.

I did however KICK MAJOR bootie in a game against astinkyfart...yeah baby! I rock...

Ron will meet the winner of the game between Cathleya and Chimane and the winner of that game will then play flyerguy.
Carpe_Diem will play the winner of the game between Control-Reset and Chupacubra and the winner of that game will then play Trond

I finally cracked and ran the position through Fritz. I won't post the results in case someone can actually solve the Jan 5th puzzle on their own, but I will say the position is VERY tough to calculate (at least at my Class D level). Hint: I was wrong when I posted that after 1. Bxc6 bxc6 2. Qxc6, any move other than Qa3 leads to 3. Ra8#.

There are still five games from Round 1 yet to begin. They are:

control_reset vs chupacubra
ekto vs brocoli
outofthebox vs lazarus
red pawn vs kapablanca
Unless these games are underway by the end of Janury, the following rules will apply
- The "offending" player will lose by default.
- In an instance where both players involved in a game are not in a position to start by tghe due date, the game will be awarded to the higher ranked player
There are two short term solutions available to those whose games number is a problem - the first is a one month GK membership subscription for around $ 7.00 - the other is to have a neutral person (me) host the game on my site - this is being done for one game already - but this option is only available for round 1.
Please remember that it is the responsibility of the lower ranked player to choose colour and issue the challenge - or at least commence a dialogue with their opponent to sort out any difficulties.
