I think backing the underdog in QF4 would be a risk strategy of the highest order - better to donate the money to the Lost Dogs Home.
If I may paraphrase Kramnik - " (My) Chess is so shallow that I simply feel embarassed" when I play the likes of julian - ask drron - he actually thanked me for providing him with some comic relief last time we played!!!!

So really, you were not just providing simple comic relief, BUT in fact..concerned for the well fare of your opponents health, and took it upon your selfless shoulders to give them a lil boost. I do that allllllllllllllllll the time.
I am such the humanitarian, that my chess style is all about leaving my opponent almost in tears of laughter at the end of the game. Yeah I know, it is a gift...some people just have it I suppose.
I could kick major bootie if I wasn't all about the people.... ;)

I'm happy to report that since quitting the team, I have one draw and one win from my remaining team games and I'm about to pick up another point from an opponent's blunder (he hung a rook in the endgame). I should have quit the team months earlier -- the team score would have been much higher!

Thanks for your concern, but I am well and dry. Funny that you should make reference to boats for cars, however, as my morning commute to work includes a 25 minute ride on a ferry. So 5 days a week, I do use a boat to transport my car.
I live on the coast so there is plenty of water here, but not too much of it has fallen from the sky, lately. We moved last year from north Texas and they, along with central Texas, are getting the flooding.
I am watching today's results very closely. The Bounty Hunter of the Month title is up for grabs and we are only slightly positive for the month. So I am hoping everyone will try to win a game today and delay loses in order to keep our consecutive months with a positive score intact.
Thanks cj and neeta for keeping the forum lively. I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Message:
Our Round Robin event is now ready to start.
TOURNAMENT RULES
1.....The tournament has been divided into three seeded Divisions - each Division has been divided into sections – again primarily based on player ratings
2.....The event will have two rounds – the first, a preliminary round (in Sections) and then a final round in each Division.
3.....Points will be awarded as follows
- 1 point for a win
- 1/2 point for a draw
- 0 points for a loss
4.....The end results in both the preliminary rounds and the finals will be determined by each players aggregate points.
5.....In the event of a tied end result in either the preliminary rounds or finals, the lower rated player will be declared the winner
6.....Each game will be unrated and have a five day per move limit
7.....The lower rated player always has choice of colour and will notify his/her opponent either by moving when white or via a pm if playing as black
PLEASE NOTE - The participants in each section have been listed in descending order of player ratings at the time of the draw. The responsibility for issuing challenges is resident with the lower rated player and all games in each section should be started by July 12th.
