Subject: BAD NEWS
Message:
About _____________Set up automatic challenge decline rules_______________
*new* They can also prevent your team captain from including you in team matches ("min/max days per move" and "max currently active games" parameters only).
This makes it difficult to organize new team matches. The green dots do not tell anything any more. You can't know who is or isn't available for team matches in the opponent teams.
I have to consider my teams future now.

Message: if this is bad news. It can lead to funny (annoying of course) situations though. You'll have to send your team a message explaining this new feature (where can we find more details about this?) and linking here:
-> gameknot.com
Oh, I see (they added this today, probably, since I had not seen it a few days ago):
Please note: these rules can prevent other players from challenging you to a game (unless all of the conditions above are met, of course). *new* They can also prevent your team captain from including you in team matches ("min/max days per move" and "max currently active games" parameters only). These rules do not apply to new mini-tournament games, new league games, etc.
That's strange. I always had (okay, not at the moment) 49 games running, which made me available for team matches. But always, I would get random challenges - which makes your amount of games 50, and voila, your excluded from a team challenge - very annoying if a match has to be cancelled because of a "third party" that made the amount of games exceed the maximum amount of games. So... what did I do? I went to my challenge filter and set the maximum amount of games ("Max currently active games for you:) to 40 - so I would not be challenged in such a case. But now this simultaneously prevents me from being included in team matches? Is this really true?
I already discussed this "green dot players" who are not available for 5-day team matches for example, with my team captain. But this would be even more complicated. How to set up a new team match now properly? It's getting harder and harder.

9/16/2007 12:09:46 [ report abuse ] | Okay,
Message: I've found a simple way of preventing new personal challenges:
"Opponent's rating must be less than 0 points below
and less than 0 points above your rating."
This makes it practically impossible to get new challenges. Every team player would have to manually their challenge settings:
Days per move: min 3 days max 14 days
Max currently active games for you: 999
This would give your team captain a "carte blanche" for giving new team matches.

Message: I can give orders only for my own team AND the problem here is on the opponents side.
To organize games I do need to know who are available for the games in opponent teams.
There are green dots basically telling about that BUT
The green dot do not tell if the player in the opponent team is available for
3 days only, 3 and 5 days only, 5 days only, 5 and 7 days only or 7 days only or is he or she available for all options.
My challenges are not accepted any more...I'm getting message like "Sorry But player A is available for 3 days, B for 5 days and C for 7 days.
My team has played more that 10000 games in a year. We need more than 200 new games in a week. That took something like 10-20 hours to organize before. With the new system I will need 5...50 x time more for the same result. I don't have that...

Message: I don't understand why team captains, as paid members who, let's face it, run the team competition for GK, and pay to run it for them, were neither given a chance to comment on this feature (pro/con) nor given any notice of it. It suddenly appeared. No warning. Way to go GK. Typically bad implementation (e.g., team ladder in its initial form). What this site needs is notice and comment forum on any changes it wants to implement. Otherwise, I suggest someone starts a competitor who can do a better job.

Message: a separate team match preference setting work better? Although, the way it was before, was fine. Team captains knew what players wanted what kind of matches.
And that's it for now.

Message: this is the way GK wants to sell it:

I'm not sure how it works, though. Probably in the same way the "Start game/Join game" sections work.

Message: saw this as a problem, and I already took action by asking all of my team's players to modify their settings to allow 5 days / move (we don't play 3 days / move at all). I'm not sure whether the min/max rating options also effect the team challenges; if they do, then that would be a much bigger issue. However, now that the "open challenge" is up, these issue(s) are propably lessened.

Message: Open challenge doesn't help me so much with our huge need for new games on daily base.
Today I have manage to find 1 suitable challenge for us. Only 1 while having 40 players more or less available. From our side I can create one (1) open challenge at the same time with max 10 players...

Message: I am having the same problems! I have only 47 players on my team, but in one week I have only set up three team matches. NOT GOOD! Now, while I LOVE the idea behind the open challenge system, it is really messing up my team. I set out a message asking my team to change their settings, we'll see what happenes. I will say this, I don't like telling my team what to do. I do see why GameKnot does not ask everyone what they think about something before they change something, if they waited for everyone to agree, nothing would ever get done.
