Either he earned his place or he wanted to try punching above his weight. He has a legitimate entrée, whichever applies. It's worth checking the 'Highest chess rating' for 'all rated games' of your opponents, BTW.

My buddy Sonata aka Ardin
I can assure you that Sonata will be a threat to you blacktarten. He has an optimum rating of nearly 1600. He has been through a recent Big Slump which can happen to anybody. This is what he is capable of at his best:-

it's overall strength that earns one's place in a tournament
If you guys are talking about Ardin, his skills win him a place at any level;
he is accomplished at every phase of the game.

Tournements ......
@ my level anyway ,should be enjoyed , makes we wonder what some players get out of a tournament entering at a level below their strength ,
which is why i have stopped , making a 4th round and playing a player nearly 200 points ahead of me was not what i entered for, I like to play players around my ability at that time
When i wish to improve i use the challenge new games set up , hopefully i get what i want then ,
I would like the 90 day period extended to a year when deciding what level i can enter at
The set up on this site is pretty good tho'
