"Subscribe to a Premium Membership and Win HP Touchpad!"
within the notification, the following is to be read:

"If you already have a premium membership, simply renew your subscription, or if your premium membership isn't up for renewal in October, extend your premium membership for an additional year."

myself, I have a titanium lifetime membership, and I am very glad and thankful about, that there were some gameknot players, who made that possible for me! and why renewing a lifetime membership, that is already for lifetime. even if my membership would be renewed, that would be much more expensive for me than simply to buy myself a touchpad.

so I guess, the offer is simply intended for a certain part of gameknot players?! or is there anything, I did not notice?

Membership
I am a Legacy Member and I don't feel slighted by this promotion at all. I got in many years ago for $95.00 when the site was in its infancy. Since then it has grown but like all businesses it needs to attract new members and that is what this promotion is all about. I just wish they would bring back the monthly puzzles with prizes as that was fun and interesting.

New account ?
Having 2 accounts is against GK policy and could result in you being barred from the site though it is true to say certain players have several accounts !
Having just renewed for a year I'm not in a position to pay for another year now. Of course GK needs to keep expanding but that is no reason to penalise those who are already paid members !

It's suggested to buy a gift membership for someone else.

It just so happens ...
I have an HP Touchpad I never use, in fact loathe, which spends all its time shut off . If someone has an aesthetic means of removing it from my laptop (being molded into the cover), promises it a better home, and wants to arrange their own delivery . . .

man ...
and I just found out mine is a "touchpad" not a "Touchpad" (Can they do that!? Is it just One Of Those Things .... like why does IE do Less with every version, yet obsolete the prior, kind of thing ? )

We do realize that Lifetime members are at a slight disadvantage here. Don't despair however!   Buying a gift membership for someone else also counts as an entry to win the HP Touchpad (as kingdawar and woutstra already pointed out). Have a friend here who doesn't yet have a premium membership? Or just a worthy opponent you respect? The recipient of your gift will be pleasantly surprised and you'll have a chance to win the prize as well. Win-win!
