Fools Mate
What is Fools Mate ? , I was always taught in school it was 4 moves , obviously there is less ,I have no memory of a title for less though , but what is the reason behind title "fools mate" , does anyone have any history on the saying ,
I always just accepted it , I wonder if it has ever been used in a so called "important" game and recorded ,
Does anyone have any info

Fool's mate
1. f3 e5 2. g4 Qh4++. White's two moves can be transposed.

Yes but--
It is a "fool's" mate, but that Queen move is worth attention. Qh4+ and Qa5+ for black are thematic threats in
some openings because they can create forks that will win or threaten inadequately guarded pieces on the 4th or
5th rank. And of course there are corresponding moves for white.

These are fresh in my mind because this week in a casual over-the-board game playing black, I quickly beat a
beginner in the opening with Qh4+ creating such a fork and winning a piece.

Then the very next night while playing white in a rated OTB game, I lost the game in the opening against an
expert (candidate master in the new lingo) because he had the threat of Qa5+ combined with a discovered
double attack on his next move. It was an embarrassing moment, though I was the only one who knew the full
irony.

Sometimes you get the bear. Sometimes the bear gets you.

But no matter what ...
The bear is always bare

And according to Wiki, the Mate is always a Fool's (Fools' ?) when delivered to an immovable King by Qh4+ ... even if we changed the pawns to be on f4 g4 and ...e6 or any other suitable pawn placements or move order. I was wondering about that part.

But still wonder what it is if the colors are reversed, since WT could make any number of moves for his 2nd one, and still play Qh5# when it is given to him? Which brings up the additional Question of whether THAT counts on GK, or not ?

One EG: 1.d4 f5 2.e3 g5?? 3.Qh5#

I would suggest that as being a "DutchFool'sMate" !?

And why not define our True Fools' Mates more specifically (why not, if Eskimo's can have 11 or is it 21, whatever, words for snow. Surely Fools should be equally well differentiated as snow. ). Therefore, I would suggest my own contribution for naming of the Fool's Mate from Bird's Opening, 1.f4 e6 2.g4?? Qh4# as being the Cuckoo Birds Mate

And there is the Staunton Gambit vs the Dutch also. Could we safety tag the moves 1.f4 e5 2.g4?? as the DutchFoolsStauntonGambitCounterGambit perhaps?

I need some some help with the rest of them ... Can anyone help me ?
