New 'improvements'
I think it's disappointing that GK has not responded positively to the comments about the new board not working on mobile devices. What was presumably intended to be an improvement actually offers little in the way of an improved user experience, but does exclude a hitherto convenient alternative way of accessing the site. In fact, part of my rationale for choosing the mobile phone I did was so I could access GK (in preference to any other site) without being sat at a computer.

I'd really like to know whether there are any plans to make the site usable from mobile devices again. The current method of changing one's profile settings is not feasible.

It does rather seem to me that the GK response has been to ignore the issue and wait until people get bored of raising it. I hope I'm wrong - and a response from GK would help here.

The timing was particularly unfortunate for me as I'd just renewed my membership... and quite possibly wouldn't have bothered if I'd known what was going to happen.

A pity
Being able to keep up with games on the mobile is a great advantage as it allows you to keep up to date when on the move. This means less timeouts, less postponements. It's a big pity that recents enhancements were at the expense of mobile users.

More 'Improvements'
I completely agree.

Another point is the annoying feature that the board settings are outsourced into cookies now. So after each session I need to go into settings and change the board back to the only usable board set (Merida). This really sucks and I don't see any improvement. (and please don't tell me not to delete cookies! This is not state of the art and sucks, either).

And by the way, why is the contact feature broken ?! I spent 15 minutes to find out how to contact the support and I failed badly. When I hit the link to the contact GK form it just leads me back to the FAQ search. Doesn't make much sense to me.

Have you contacted GK directly? If they're aware of the problem, then give them time, they might be working on a solution as we type. Things don't get sorted out overnight. The new board features are certainly an improvement from my point of view, perhaps it will take a little time before they work out how to get these implemeted on mobile devices.

If in a month's time, still no word, still no improvement, then maybe it's time to question whether their efforts merit you paying for your subscription.

I hope it gets sorted soon for you.

Wanstronian: why do you not just use the legacy board when logging in from your mobile phone? Doesn't it work?

Heinzkat
The board settings are part of the user profile, not tied to the device being used. So when using my mobile I'd need to go to Settings first and change my profile, then make moves, log out etc. Then when I used my computer I'd have to go and reverse that. It's even more of a pain than it sounds, because changing user settings logs you out, so you have to log back in, clicking the 'Remember Me' checkbox on the way.

I know that GK are aware of the problem because there was a forum response under another thread. They may well be working on a solution, but if they are, they haven't told anybody!

This is GameKnot's answer; they must know by now that there are some issues but yet have to show some action...

I would write them directly describing the perceived problems: gameknot.com
