Send a message to my team
Hi all

As a team captain, every Sunday I send out a message to my team with our stats from the previous week. Now I see the 'Send a message to my team' is directed to the team forum, instead of broadcasting a private message to all team members. Why the change? Can team members who are not GK premium subscribers, respond in the team forum?

Thanks, Chris

I went through the same thing last week when I discovered the new wrinkle. All team related messages are now via the team forum. Everyone on the team can see the threads, and paying members can respond. The reason for the change has something to do with gk server capabilities...

Thank you, tag1153 for the information!

I cannot believe with terabyte disc space so cheap and gigabyte memory also very cheap that gk, would have issues with speed or capacity.

It has already been addressed in another thread earlier, but in case if you missed it...

If you would like to send a message to the entire team, please use the team forum to post it. It has the exact same effect as was sending a team-wide private message before — everyone on the team will be alerted to it instantly, and only the team members can access it. Also, using the team forum has many added benefits — when someone replies, it will be easier to track which message the reply was meant for, and players can unsubscribe from individual message threads if they are no longer interested in them, etc..

Sending a team-wide private message was the only way you can communicate with the entire team before we introduced the private team forums. Because sending a team-wide private message results in a separate private message sent to each individual team member, unfortunately it creates a significant load on our servers because it can quickly avalanche out of control for teams with many members (especially with multiple team-wide replies back and forth). The team forum doesn't suffer from such disadvantage as it was designed to handle it from the start.

Additionally, you can post larger messages in the forum (30,000 characters vs. 10,000 for a private message).

Seems good to me, that you can send a 30 000 characters long message in the team forums, instead of 10 000 characters earlier.
I remember that when I tried to send really long messages to my team before with all our weekly results in the team games, the space was sometimes a little too small, so I was then forced to split up my weekly message in two parts!
