I caught myself by surprise.I stay on the subject, but interject a few things in between to liven up the conversation. No other chess sites can be named or things consumed, perhaps not even a softdrink if it is not within the thread subject.Well,so be it from now on!

Conditional Moves
Good points about vacation status, etc. Can't insist a players status be removed if the moves are conditional. It seems plenty good enough to me that the notification disappears if the player doesn't want it. Like I've said plenty of times before, GK's implementation of this feature is the best I've seen. Of course, I've only played on a few other sites.

Keep up the great work!

Conditional Moves
I just set up a 7 move conditional, with two variations. There was one minor deviation in which if my opponent made a stupid move I would checkmate him. He didn't choose that, so all seven moves played out just as I had foreseen. Way cool! Probably shaved a good two days off the regular play. I cannot tell that my time/move was affected, though.

My opponent resigned several moves later--I already had a decent material advantage. Though the other game I could not use my rook advantage to prevent his beating me.

This all got me to wondering what was the longest chain anyone has programmed, and also how many variations. There is a measure of peril in programming things out very far--it is always possible you could overlook something critical three or four moves out. But then, it seems to me even MORE likely you'll miss something you've already thought of if you have to wait three days to get back to the same game.

Anyway, I guess I've spent enough time singing the praises of the conditional move feature. Unless I think of something else.

Tactical-Abyss, what's your maximum moves ahead? And Claukonen, how about you? I assume you've tried the feature before knocking it.

Oh, claukonen, why would we need any suggestions? GameKnot is already perfect!
Just kidding of course, we are always happy to hear new suggestions. "Contact us" form is the preferred method, but you can post it here as well, if you would like to get feedback from other players.
