"last time online" missing on personal page?
Near the top of our personal pages here on GK is the notation "last time online."
For most of us that means the minutes/hours/days since we have been on the
site; a few people have "hidden by player." I have been playing someone in team
play (undefeated!?) who has no listing at all. Has anyone ever seen that before?
Is that an option for everyone? Thanks for your help.

Also
No Player Profile at all, not even the heading and options. If I have the right one, as this player has been defeated.

Probably a restricted account of some sort

restricted accounts?
Well, he now has a loss in a team game, but only because he forfeited to me
with a time-out. kingdawar - is there a place on the site that explains restricted
accounts?

ironbutterfly,
I don't know nearly as much as much as kingdawar does on these matters, but as he said above, more than likely when things go missing on a players profile,it is due to probably some kind of rule infraction that cause that players profile to become restricted in some way, shape or form. From my experiences on other chess sites, those players are still "allowed"to play the remaining ongoing games they have, but then after that are either suspended temporarily or permanently. Also, sometimes, they are allowed to keep on playing indefinitely, but with certain restrictions like not being able to message, post in the forums or play blitz.Lets say,for example, you wrote something in your profile that some players or GK thought was offensive or did not go by GK rule guidlines. It is possible, then, for that players profile to become "restricted"in some ways(as a form of rule infraction punishment)...either temporarily or permanently. But this does not mean that the player cannot play future games, but will play with profile restrictions.I've seen this happen before. Now,that player in question might have several other players registered on his account. That is ok by the rules, but if any of those players "play"each other, that is against the rules. Now,i'm not saying that this has occurred with the player in question, but I know that multiple accounts also come under a higher degree of scrutiny and "eyes" when their are accounts like that.

As far as I know, ironbutterfly, there is no place where you can simply read up on the levels of "punishment" GK will enforce depending upon which infractions have occurred, but one of the best ways is to simply ask that player...message him!If you cannot get through to him, well, therein may lie your answer! If you do get through, then maybe he can shed some light on the issue!I'm my humble opinion, however, its best not to even get involved or pursue the answer. You know that saying about "bad karma"!

explanation
Their account is dead; can't start any new games or do anything else except play out the current games. Most likely due to multiple accounts from the same computer.

restricted accounts
Thanks to all of you for the info - it has been really helpful. Your commentary especially, TA.
I feel like now I have a handle on the parameters of the issue. This is an example to me
of one of the (many) great things about GK!

Inactivity Will Result In An Account Being Deleted
I had a friend that played on Gameknot under the user ID FastBernie gameknot.com

He became very sick in October 2010 and eventually died in September 2011...
Please see this forum post for more details gameknot.com

He never logged back on to Gameknot after Mid-October 2010...

Of course he was in my friends list, which means I was reminded of how long it had been since he had logged into Gameknot on a regular basis (365 days, 500 days, 730 days etc...)

Recently (around December 1st, 2012) his name no longer appeared in my friends list, and upon further research I sadly discovered that his account had been deleted.

When he first became inactive he had a Premium Gameknot account, but unfortunately I do not know when his account's Premium status expired and he defaulted to a non-premium status.

Best case scenario is that he renewed his Premium status just before he became sick in October 2010; which means that his account didn't default to non-premium status until October 2011.

Wort case scenario is that his Premium status expired just after he became sick in October 2010; which means that his account defaulted to non-premium status October 2010.

Which means, based on his account being deleted around December 1st, 2012, the following can be deduced...

A non-premium Gameknot account WILL DEFINITELY be deleted due to inactivity some time between 425 days (14 months) and 790 days (26 months).

Sorry, I wish I could be more specific, but at least I have managed to narrow it down to a 365 day window.

I think this proves beyond a reasonable doubt, that eventually a Non-Premium Gameknot account's inactivity will result in the account being deleted by Gameknot.

Somer,
In the case of the player that ironbutterfly was speaking about,it appears that it was not an issue of non activity, but something else.Interesting about non activity, however.I once ask GK about my account, that is,if I simply stop playing any games or completly stop any kind of activity at all on GK for a year. They told me that my account would definetely become inactive, but i'm not sure if that was permanently or not. They further went on to explain that as long as I log on once a year(and thats it!),it will keep my account active. So,I do not have to play any games or do any forum chat and no blitz and still remain active as long as I simply log on once a year.So even a Gold LIFE member like me must atleast log on once a year or the life membership is worthless!Technically,I disagree with this since how many life members are there really? Not alot.So if,for example,I get a year of amnesia due to a stroke or I lose my job and my computer crashes and can't afford another computer for 2 years...and also do not want to use a public library computer due to the possibility of that multiple user thing which would show up on my account.....then even as a life paid up member,I become extinct!Atleast, this is my understanding.

So,i'll have to put in my "last will and testament",that in order to inherit my mansion,10,000 acres, oil rigs and gold bars in my safety deposit box, someone must not play, but log me on to GK atleast once a year for their life and then put my wishes in the new inheriters will...ect ect!It will be my form of immortality on GK!So,if you see a ghostly shadow dash across your screen once in a while after i'm gone, you can say...."ahhhh,theres goes TA"!!Ha ha!

Hmmmm...this also means that while i'm alive,I cannot visit that remote island in the Pacific that has no internet access, and I will not be able to go hunting for longer than a year in the deep jungle, wearing my grass skirt, wooden shield and spear for tiger hunting! For when I come back to civilation to tell you all how my exotic journey unfolded and i'm wearing my 2000 dollar suit, having that 30 dollar martini and I log on to GK again...it will say..."account closed"!

Ha,ha!
