Credit score hyperlinks
These credit score hyperlinks are very annoying to me as I am using a notebook computer with a touch pad. So they keep opening and obscuring the view of my games. Would gameknot consider losing these hyperlink ads?

We do not use ads of the type you are describing on GameKnot. Other than banner ads or text ads at the top of the page (and left/right sides on some pages), we do not use any other types of ads. You might get an occasional ad that temporarily expands when you move your mouse over it, but that's about it. No pop-ups, no in-text hyperlinks, etc. Actually, because you are a premium membership subscriber, you should not see any ads at all while you are logged in to your account (as no ads is one of the premium benefits). The ads you are describing definitely do not come from GameKnot. Please check your computer for viruses, spyware, adware, and all other types of malware. Also, please refer to FAQ #27 for more info: gameknot.com

GK is correct. As a premium member,I have never even seen one single ad,link or anything at all popping up or blocking anything on GK and I have the cheapest antivirus(but good)you can probably get...AVG,its free version infact.Even when i'm not logged into GK which automatically occurs when I apply my "CC Cleaner"once a month and the GK front page shows up for me to log into,I see no pop ups,ad banners or anything. So you must have some kind of virus, spyware, adware that got into your computer.Get it cleaned out.I know that right now, there is alot of "credit score"emails being sent out to people which usually occurs around tax time and I have those going into my spam.I also know that if you open up even one of those emails, you can get a virus of somekind.

"You might get an occasional ad that temporarily expands when you move your mouse over it" This is to what I'm referring. As I move my cursor over the hyperlink, it expands and covers what I'm trying to see . This is something new to me. It has been occurring for two or three weeks. I find it annoying. My Antivirus software, etc. is up to date. tactical_abyss typed the words "my spam" in the next to last sentence. It appears as brown and underlined; when I mouse over it, a "my spam" resource is offered, all I need to do is click. I reiterate that this is new to me on Gameknot and I don't like it.

Apologies for repeating, but we do not use ads of the type you are describing. All ads are contained within the their designated areas at the top of the page and sometimes on the sides of the page, but never within the text. Furthermore, we never show any ads to our premium subscribers, as it is one of the premium benefits. The ads you are seeing are definitely not coming from us in any shape or form, as you are a premium subscriber. They might not necessarily be because of viruses, they can be coming from an ad-supported plug-in or extension installed in your web browser, or even from a legitimate ad-supported program installed on your computer. One way you can confirm it is by logging in to your account from someone else's computer, preferably using a different ISP (or from a local library, for example).

hornek, The spam I mentioned had nothing to do with GK,nor did "spam"appear on GK ever since I became a paying member. That was just a side note on something I receive at this time of year in my emails, not GK.And emails can contain strange things if you open up the unknown ones coming from odd sources. As to antivirus being up to date...it dosen't matter.Virus's can get past even the best antivirus programs including Nortons. My computer expert friend told me so.But as GK mentioned,it may not be a virus anyway, but could be other things.Good luck! Try that thing GK suggested, like logging in from another ISP at a library. The problem I perceive there is,however, someone might have played on GK through that same library computer and it might be possible that your profile could end up listing another player or players coming from the same computer and attach this to your profile which you may not desire.

Thank you both.
Going back to IE solved the problem, so far. Google Chrome is not for me. Not that anything is wrong with Google Chrome (I hear good things about it). I won't be using GC again anytime soon. hornek

Text Enhance
What you have is a form of flash adware. In Chrome you should be easily able to disable it. Click the Settings icon (3 horizontal bars, upper right corner) and go to Tools > Extensions to uninstall or disable the Text Enhance plugin. Greetz, Bart
