Upgrading membership
I know GK states that this site is not for technical support. And if GK would respond to my queries, I would not have to ask here. Does anyone know how to go about upgrading a lifetime membership? The page to upgrade annual memberships is easy to find, but it says nothing about upgrading lifetime memberships. Maybe you can't do that, but if not, it would be helpful if GK would just say so. I have the second-highest membership status and would like to upgrade to the highest. GK management has ignored me on this question repeatedly. Any help is appreciated.

Propably impossible...
Because GK no longer offers life-time memberships of any kind. Regards, MaCa.

Titanium
membership is the highest level offered. The was a time when "Lifetime" was offered. That was many years ago when the site was just getting started. Players who purchased those back then are now in a "Legacy" catagory. They are probably not responding because this information about the membership's offered are in the FAQ section. However, I think it would be nice of them to just tell you as much.

It has been offered 2 times
I received an offer to get a lifetime a few years ago. I don't know if it is a once a decade thing or it will never happen again, but I jumped on it when it was offered.

From the way GK is talking, I doubt a lifetime membership will ever be offered again, but if I may ask you jamesdriggs, I'm quite curious how much the lifetime membership cost you and do you feel like you got a bargain or not?

I paid $95.00 for the lifetime membership back in 2002 and I think it has been well worth it.

Paying $95 back in 2002 sounds like a no-brainer now, but I'm sure at the time you had second thoughts: what if GK goes belly-up, what if I get sick of chess or I find a chess site I like better, etc. Probably a yearly membership in 2002 was less than $20 and with the Internet having such a high turnover rate, $95 dollars may have seemed a bit of a risk -- perhaps GK needed quick capital at the time for expanding? So as with other risky investments, sometimes they pay-off and sometimes they don't. I'm glad your investment paid-off.

Platinum
Back in June of 2006, I paid $291 for a lifetime platinum membership. I think this is the last time GK has offered lifetime memberships. Yearly platinum memberships are $59.50 and I think they where the same price in 2006. So, I have about 1 year to go before my lifetime membership begins to pay off for me. I do not play a lot of games, but I wanted to create and captain my own team. A platinum or titanium membership is required before a person can create/captain a team.
