Chess problems.
I just wonder how difficult it would be to include chess problems together with chess puzzles. Right now you can't enter a problem that doesn't have a forced mate and a limited amount of solutions.

Chess problems differ from puzzles in the sense that you don't force mate, you just either win a good chunk of material or force your opponent to resign. There are quite a few drawing combinations also that, with the current puzzle system, can't be submitted.

Take for example the following puzzle

White moves and wins but he doesn't force mate in enough moves to able to submit it to the GK site.

Having the possibility to submit tactical positions and more elaborate chess studies that don't force mate in a few moves would be really great and would improve a lot the quality of the site.

Im sure its a forced mate.
Anyway I saw mates in more than 40 moves in chess puzzles, but those ones hadnt many alternative solutions, thats why (I think) they are there.
This puzzle is way shorter...I think about 25 moves about, but I dont think it can be posted in GK chess puzzles...
Its a pity because its a very nice endgame mate.

The application is designed only for directmates. I think it would not be too difficult to add helpmates & selfmates on this foundation, but that's about it.

But think about it, there is already so many cooked stuff posted here in the watertight (all variations leading to mate) directmate problems section, imagine what happens when that condition is lifted ...

Right.
Heinzkat has right (not a surprise), it would be a complete chaos...Eheh.

I agree not all puzzles might be correct given more lenient conditions for submission, but I still have books and problems that aren't all 100% correct, since they were published before computers came along.

But that's where the power of feedback can come into play. If any problem is found to be incorrect, the users will surely pick up on it and vote it off.

Well, if only the current system would allow that... there's enough to do on the current version of the puzzle section, if that is all fixed by GK, then I would hope they slowly but surely look into expanding the variety of types of problems that they offer to put up.
