I do DECLARE ...what a game it was
that I just had with makis270 . But my sac wasn't quite right, so I got the opportunity just now to Resign ... which made the further opportunity just before that of seeing what happens if one clicks the "DECLARE" option on their game board. So just FYI for anyone else who was wondering ...
****
When you click DECLARE it then gives you the option to claim draws by 3 Time Position Repetition or by 50 Move Rule. My game was only 38 moves and neither would apply, thus the test. If you make a Draw Claim of 50 move rule then "SUBMIT" in such a case, YES, the system itself looks at the board, & properly told me there was not a Draw by that Rule. And also the system analyzed the three time rep SUBMIT and decided it did not repeat. Here is what it will tell you then:
****
"Unable to declare this game a draw at this time.

The following condition was NOT detected: Draw by threefold repetition (the current position on the board appears in the game 3 or more times)."
****
This is all as I predicted would happen. And you can bet, if it had not gone that way and an actual DRAW claim had gone across to my Opponent ... He would have gotten my IMMEDIATE "OOPS SORRY, was messing around with the board" and proper RESIGNATION. Since it went my way on the prediction, didn't need to send the OOPS, just the RESIGNS and a Well Done. So there we have it. The inside story on DECLARE.
****
Any comments on that welcome. Otherwise, feel free to please let us all know if you have some different GK Discovery of your own where we can say: "Ah, so THAT's what it Does~!"

(And hopefully it will not be a Discovery from Heinzkat telling me where I could have just looked it up and read those messages right online here; but if so ... well I can't really say I'd be surprised~! ... }8-))

OH, btw ... here's that game ...
Not fully annotated yet, but I think my COMMENTS to him pretty much site what I missed and what I thought might by better. Tho have not gone back and worked it all out yet, rather was the impression I had as playing it. So if anyone sees something, PLZ shout out!

If (if!) it had accepted the claim, there would have been no way for you to resign instead. It would have been a draw immediately.

Yes! HK
Of course. The thing is, I did not know that it handled the decision by automation & instantly, as it does. So I mean if it had sent some message like: Thanks for your draw claim, since the system cannot make this determination we are kicking it over to the Cray 1000 to take a look & let you know in 3 days ..."
or "What a very Interesting draw claim, we'll let your opponent know of the slight delay while it is reviewed by our official FIDE Arbiter ... "
THEN I would have had to scramble to try to set things right and hope to abort the claim! But such was my faith in GK ... I had to give it a go.

What would really have got me is if it Accepted a Draw, as you say ...since there was no way it could rightly have been. I would be embarrassed, penitent & at the same time highly amused in this particular situation, but what about GK~! }8-)

(Still, I wouldn't have expected to keep a draw from a system glitch, nor deprive an opponent of a win. Which is not to say I would complain too much if it wanted to glitch me a draw, yet give him a win. haha. But the point was just to see how the DECLARE works, Really
