Possible Problems with database
I am on the 7th move of a game and in check so clicked on database. It said the position was not found. So I clicked on World and the same thing happened. Do not know why this is. I do not usually use the database - I was just trying to work out the name of the opening.

It's just that your current position is not in the database?

It left the database prior to move 5 ...
But the GK Games section of the d-base has the opening name(s) listed for moves 1 thru 4 of that game. Although move 5 is not listed, at that point it might easily be considered a "Reverse" of that opening. (Such as when we say Kings Indian Reversed for EG, meaning that the WT pieces are being played such as the Black side usually is, plus an extra move.)

The World section has it listed for moves 1 thru 3 as well.

What's the problem?
The position is known until 4. ... Bd6 in the database of GameKnot games. 5. f4 is not in it.

What I was doing was clicking on the game board to take it back to move 3 and then clicking on DB - but when you do that GK takes it back to the actual position as it opens the next page (the db) so it is at move 8 ( a bit further now as I have moved)..

I have just discovered that if you want to find a position on the database you have to click to the position on the database board - you cannot do it from the game board you play on.

I see what you mean ...
The way it used to work you could just click database and if the position did not show up it would ask you "do you want to go back to the last position found in dbase?". Or similar. And I see what you mean about it going to current position now, etc.

Now the way it is, you do not even have to click back on the game board. Just click DB under it and it will take you to where it is showing no position found, on the dbase page. But once you are there on the dbase page, look under the board display there and it shows a list of all the moves made in your game. Those are interactive, so just click on the move list beneath that board and beneath the moves listed will appear what opening it is when you find a move that is in the dbase. And then also the dbase options will appear above re move choices,
