Suggestion - audible incoming comment alert

Hi everyone - my first ever message here!

Suggestion: What about an optional audible alert if one's opponent makes an initial comment during a game? I never spot the first incoming comment - I must be concentrating too much on the chess! I often regret not replying to a bona fide comment such as "sorry got to go" or a compliment/criticism etc.

I have had a quick look around & don't think this suggestion has been posted before, but can take the replies whether or not it has! Anyway, what do you think?

Sounds good ...

Flashing light too. I always miss comments that come later than the start. Of course being able to Turn-Off the alerts so as not to break concentration would be a must

Yes, I think some indication of comments at any time would be nice. Otherwise, I don't look down there. Or at least have the comments stand out significantly from the rest of the text so that I'd see it out of the corner of my eye.

I sometimes feel bad that I take so long to reply (or at least I think it's been a long time).

ganstaman: There is an option in the comment settings to show the last two comments above the board. Just go to one games with comments and click on "Settings" next to Comments. A pop up with said option will appear.

littlebigpawn: Also, a new comment is symbolized in the "My games" columns by a speech bubble. It will disappear once you access the board, so if you automatically switch to the game boards instead of going via "My games", it's not a big help.

Thanks, everyone. Glad to hear I'm not the only one.

rallyvincent, I reckon having the comments above the board rather than below might do the trick, at least for me, & hope it helps anyone else in the same position (excuse the chess pun!). Maybe something else will come along, but meanwhile I'll definitely have a play around with that.

Oh, we're talking about the CC games and not blitz games.

No, you're fine, ganstaman - I originally meant for blitz but hadn't realised it's slightly different for the longer games. I suppose it's more of an issue with blitz as there's less time to notice the opponent's comments!

Oh well, I don't think the comments will show above the board in Blitz.
