Tactics - solved but lost points
My tactics rating is 1300+ and the system somehow gave me a 1000+ problem to solve.
I did solve it very quick but lost 7 rating points anyway. (prblm #35429)

There's either a bug or a math problem here. Either way the system shouldn't give a problem
rated lower than the user.

Sounds like a bug...
... I've seen some odd things with times as well. One dude has attempted 77 positions in less than 12 minutes - thats over 9 per minute; or about 7 seconds each.
Feasible? I don't think so, if the machine is timing sessions as a whole, rather than time solving actual positions.

The thought ...
... has occurred to me that as some exercises have been deleted, then your list has been adjusted according. That means that these anomalies will appear, but don't really relate to the exercises shown.

Happening to look back at mine, I noticed that on at least 2 occasions, my rating seems to have gone up after failed exercises. But I also note that instead of 441 exercises attempted, the list now reads 414 (ironically enough) - some 27 having been deleted. I don't think GK could do all that much about ratings after these removals, and so have left them as they are.

That's fine. Once the kinks have been ironed out, improving one's standing will become easier.

No bug
Just like it is possible to lose rating points after a win during your first 20 games, because the same rating system is used for tactics, it is possible to lose rating points during your first 20 exercises:

Alternate score for second best solution
ionadowman, if you entered the moves for the second best solution, you may have gotten a few points even though you didn't "solve" the solution. Once you are done with an exercise, look at the score information underneath the movement chart. It shows the score for winning, and a separate score for an alternate solution.

For example, exercise 40970 shows "Alt: (?) +7.22" for me.

If you hover your mouse over the encircled question mark on the exercise, it says: "The score for the second best move in this position, as estimated by a chess engine. Click on the score to see the sequence of moves."

As for people losing points after winning a game ... that's just plain broken. I don't see why a person would lose points for winning.
