Standard Arrow Keys
Hi!
---
I did not mention this technical problem for 2 years because I was
quite sure that others would complain loud enough.
-
But nothing happened so far.
So I must complain.
-
All web pages deal correct with standard arrow keys - no matter what browser is used.
<Alt><Left> key makes the browser go back
<Alt><Right> key makes the browser go forward
<Up> key makes the browser scroll down
<Down> key makes the browser scroll up
---
since roughly 2 years gameknot does no longer
implement the standard browser keys bahaviour.
---
this makes the gaming page as difficult to use as those badly
programmed flash/flexx pages showing up recently.
---
please, make the chess board react on <shift><arrow keys> and
please, leave them standard keys do what they are supposed to do.
---
yours, Gerald Trost

I don't know, I like those arrow keys on the analysis board. It's not like you are going to do Internet browser browsing on that page anyway.

nobody seems to understand!
well - it is okay that arrow keys let us navigate through the moves!
no doubt about this!
but there is a different thing:
-
Let us suppose you visit any interet page (except gameknot pages) with
chrome or with firefox or with opera or with safari or with internet explorer
or with any other internet browser.
and now you press the combination <ALT><LEFT>
this will do the same as the back button of the browser.
similar works <ALT><RIGHT>
-
this works in any internet browser and on any internet page but except on gameknot pages.
-
it is okay that gameknot uses the <LEFT> and <RIGHT> keys!
it is not okay that gameknot uses the <ALT><LEFT> and the <ALT><RIGHT>
keys - no other internet pages do this!
these are worldwide standarized keys in all browsers and gameknot must not re-define them!

On the analysis board, you cannot "go back" anyway - there was no previous page you visited in that pop-up window.
