Very strange tactical ratings
I was taking a look at the tactical rating (gameknot.com).

It seems that we have a chess engine rated number 2 !

What do you think ?

Congrats to number one! Look forward to seeing him win the ICCF WC .... }8-)

This thing has gotten rather popular, yes? i recall reading someone last month saying to the effect 'well there are so few Tactics users anyway' and now we have 279 e-pages. Maybe you should charge a penny a puzzle GK

I don't know how 2600+ tactical excercises look like, but I don't think that a 1400+ guy can solve any of them. I'm having difficulties with 1700+ ones.

yep there is several of them in that list that are quite shall we say suspicious.

and dont get me started on the normal cc top 100 list.

It would be nice to have a peek...
What do the 2600+ tactical excercises look like.
Are they totally beyond us unwashed masses.

I guess they look just like the starting position and you have to find a forced mate in 100  .

I don't know how a 2600 puzzle looks like, but 1900-2000 are already difficult (at last for me)...so i don't think a 1400 player can solve them.

I've noticed that many 1900+ tactical problems have a seemingly "obvious" first move, but the answer is always less obvious. Many solvers click on the "obvious" answer without much thought which is how these problems became rated 1900+ to begin with. For me, most 1900+ problems require at least 10 minutes of analysis.
