GK PLAYERS GAMES ANNOTATED
I often don't get to looking thru the new annotations in that area, so I thought it would be nice if we could post here to link to one's we've annotated lately, or otherwise. So as to show off what nice games we would. For me, it is a case of starting to go thru some of mine as a personal review of my Chess career, since I believe I am probably playing my last correspondence game now, which will be the one remaining now on GK. (Which should prove most interesting to annotate some day, being a novel situation for me of "feeling ahead" then "coming out behind". That has not happened much before during corr play, that I can recall. And so shall add to the fullness of my experience with corr Chess, I am sure :) This is a game from better days, and better play. Perhaps my favorite French Defense that I got to participate in. This being with Black vs author and FM Eric Schiller. I enjoyed our three games immensely as he is a very aggressive & sharp player, with great interest in theory. And that is pretty much how I feel about Chess play too! }8-) Any comments on any games posted here are welcome of course. And so please do post here too, those games you wish to announce now being in your Annotated Games. gameknot.com gameknot.com/annotation.pl/usa-corr-apct.pl?gm=20059

What I forgot to point out ...
A main purpose here is the hope to help with a problem Ionadowman mentioned to me awhile back. The fact that ones' Annotations can get "stale" as time passes, if someone enters a game to their personal/private collection of Annotated Games but then leaves it there while doing gradual annotative work on it, or perhaps waiting to that game to progress & end before the notes can be completed. So that when it finally IS posted to the PUBLIC Annotation section, the Start date of it is no longer current, which means it will not be entered there with the newest games submitted by others, but get shuffled into the Public Games on some past page there, not to the latest page there. So that it is easily overlooked by players when they go there to review the new annotations presented. * * * * * So I thought this thread can help against that by letting players post & link to such games right here, allowing it to act like an additional "Index" page for the newest submissions, in addition to the page of most current ones that show up properly in the Annotation area. Thus, hopefully, one can just look to here also, and not overlook any. * * * * * Another factor I recall reading about is the situation where Star Ratings can serve to misplace some games publicly. Especially if Stars begin to be applied or denied before the Annotator is finished with the presentation. Well those can be mentioned here too, and linked, when they are truly ready to be. * * * * * I hope this is understandable enough; sleep being quite overdue right now. <}:~|

Hi Craig -
This can be a problem, and your idea sems to me as good a method of getteing around it as any. The problem of having a different starting date, of course, would be the shuffling around as everyone "re-edited" their games to keep them near the top of the list and in the limelight. One way around this, of course, is to visit the profile of a player or annotator whose games interest you. Which is why, if ever I have occasion to mention my own games, I refer to my profile and the game title, as easiest and most reliable means of finding it. By the way jstavens1 is one who often announces in the Chess Forum a newly annotated game. She's getting quite a library of games, now. Cheers, Ion

Thanks Ion
Hi Ion, that is oh so true, in fact even my personal annotations list is now getting rather big, so to avoid any needles in haystacks I will post links to any old games where I have posted your feedback in and I have not yet released for public annotation and I much later on wish to do so in this particular forum so that the comments can be added to if necessary. Cheers. Joanne

I wish there was a quick way to tell if a new comment has been made to an annotated game.

Two Old Games
Hi everyone! Just remembered that I did annotate a couple of very old games but only decided to release them recently. These two games are as follows:- gameknot.com gameknot.com I hope you have a good read. Cheers and bye for now. Joanne

And here's another vs a Chess Computer ...
Its the one that puts all those great green force lines on the game, and really groovy for your Son Of Psychodelia party, if you can't find a Lava Lamp . . . Then this will help find the vibe you're chasing. Don't sweat the part about "no Chess computers" then ...remember the Robot on Lost In Space ? gameknot.com gameknot.com/annotate.pl?id=11558&rnd=0.09159675141464974 Again, its buried since I tend to start ANNOTATE set up early on a game, then drift, dream and meander thru it before actually Starting the notes. Then go by my Prime Annotative Directive: "If it feels good, do it".

Reviews ...
I think, it would be nice to have regular reviews of the latest annotations - it would be as guideline to navigate through them - especially for novices (but not only for them :) ). But who would take that load on himself?

Great Idea ~!
There's no need to be modest now ... I agree, You would be the excellent choice for it loreta ! Does anyone object ? ... ... ... ... I thought not / ALRIGHT~! We have a volunteer ... }8-)

Had a thought ...
What if instead of the date someone started annotating, it sorted by the date "public" annotation is used? It looks to me like it would help keep things current ?
|
|
Yep....
Tnx, Craig... :) If I'd some time, only... I even minimized all my games (while not starting new ones) and I am loosing all these ... still running ... :)

loreta...
... I was wondering what you had in mind for such reviews? Would the reviewer suggest the best games, or most informative annotations? What about taking into account kibitzers' comments? Maybe the reviewer ought to be someone who reads the annotations frequently but doesn't comment on them very often. What do you think?
