link for virtual openings website
I am looking for a website, have done lots of unsuccessful searches, that has an interactive chessboard. One that lists a reasonable number of openings and then lists the moves and has you move the pieces. I am not looking for a database - like on Gameknot - that tells you the success statistics for a specific move.
Would appreciate if someone could tell me of such a link.

Why is it important for you to move the pieces yourself? It makes me thing you're more in the need of chess software, rather than any website.

www.chessgames.com

Has some of those features available for free, but the number of moves you can make is rather limit unless you pay for premium service. The board is also not quite interactive, AFAIK.

I would advise you to download chesspad.
www.wmlsoftware.com

It's software thats free and allows you to move the pieces when you visit a website.

You can also use the practice board that Gameknot provides. Open the practice board and move it to one side of your screen. Then go to an opening chess site (or other chess site) and reduce the size of the site so that it takes only the other half of your screen.
