Halloween GambitGK database gives the following moves as playable giving about the same opportunity for both opponents... 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Nc3 Nf6 4. Nxe5 Nxe5 5. d4 Ng6 6. e5 Ng8 7. Bc4 c6 8. Qe2 b5 9. Bb3 followed by ...Bb4 or ...a5. The following is a line I have experienced but I see that on GK database that no one has played it. I ran a few games on the bottom lines on some engines and they give black a big advantage. 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Nc3 Nf6 4. Nxe5 Nxe5 5. d4 Ng6 6. e5 Ng8 7. Bc4 c6 8. Qe2 b5 9. Nxd5 cxd5 10. Bxf7+ Kxf7 11. Qf3+ Ke8 12. Qxa8 Qc7 I was wondering if the line just above this text is playable? Is there a reason GK db players avoid this line? Why does my engine(s) not suggest these moves? Basically I want to know if the second line I mentioned is decent... Thanks for any responses. |

CAseveral of those games where in a tournament here on GK The line you are showing is playable but white will not be cooperative to play that line, so it is not that it ain't good for black it is just that it ain't good for white so white will deviate. gameknot.com you can look into the game s here and if you download the pgn you can review the games in your pgn viewer. |

Not versed in the Gambit (It does not appear that Nf6+ is a true & immediate threat. Nor attacks involving a Bg5 move. It looks like WT gets brushed off if he tries anything violent right away without some type of build-up. And since I don't see anyplace important the N is going from d5, why not take the B and make WT move the N again? I hope the line is given wrong, so I don't get challenged by 900 Halloween Gambit players who see that I "just don't Get It~! " *** }8-) |

ah Man with skirt :)X Machina how to keep the initiative is shown in the games.. but i can tell you that it is hard to really keep it, because there is much database data to use. and if used well the gambit can be refuted. |
