Is this it?A forced mate isn't immediately apparent here. Then again, I'm just a patzer. Heinzkat, where are you when we need you most? |

huh? That's like saying "I Couldn't find Mate, so I mated it" ! Not a bad choice to have ) Congrats by the way, on so humbling your mechanical monster~! I suspect that the URL for the photo perhaps contains its "Name"? I hope so, for then I think we feel the same way about them. (When we played Chess in the back of the horse cart, we didn't need Chess computers. Besides there was no plug in After the Queen comes off in the line you played, Blacks pieces fall like popcorn at the Cineplex. Tho not Forced in the sense that every move of black is dictated, forced in the sense that there is nothing BL can do to stop it vs correct moves ... so its just a matter of Mate In What. And working out a Tree Analysis would solve for that. (If you need to decimate the Q-side first, well some things you just gotta do.) If you are asking if there may be a Shorter way to Mate ... something Bronstein-like maybe. I'd take a look at the fact that you have dominated the h-file for at least two moves for him to contest it directly, by getting a supported Q or Rook to it, and by then you could have tripled there yourself. Do you have time for a quiet move to bring in a piece or two? (Unfortunately this doesn't work well immediately from the pre-Q+ position because after his Indirect contesting of the h-file with Qg8, it seems we don't win a Queen and that is...well use a favorite expression there. So how about if you take a check at Qh6+ or Qh7+ first and force his King to the back rank to prevent Qg8 as well as connection of the Q to a R (since the King then blocks that) ... then can you add a piece to the fray? Can he save the Queen then while avoiding mate? That's how I'd approach it. A sort of carpentry of Questions to solve, build an Analysis Tree ala Kotov ("Think Like a GM". Besides being Olympiad boss for Bronstein And Tal, he has practiced what he preaches there as well, in competition.) Once upon a time I'd spend a fun afternoon looking at these things, honing analytical skills, and feeling gratified if something is there that exceeds the diabolical box's horizon. But I leave that joy to you or someone who will see it quickly! }8-) Sorry so wordy, still recovering from a bad case of superfluousness ... |
