Make that 10 points out of 13 games!
Hi everyone!

I have now got 10 points out of 13 games, the 10th was against The Bishop. Do not be fooled by the fact that his rating was at one time less than 1200 - it has been more than 1300! I respected my opponent but I went in for a seemingly mad combo. However, as you will all find, there is method in the madness.

Here it is:-

Cheers.

Dana MacKenzie vs Freddy
After some contact with the in my opinion the inventor of the opening we use in the Annotation project.

I am proud to present to you the game between him and me.
And i think this will be very interesting. My real game experience and skill vs 2 years of deep analyzing of the opening and its variations.

any comments about the game are most welcome..

Another win for jstevens1
Hi everyone!

I feel a little happier today, got my 1800 rating back and this latest win pushed me further north against 1600+ nuntar (Michael). Watch out for those forks everyone!

Hope you enjoy.

Bye for now.

Steve
This is the first game we play. I have the black pieces so he can test out his opening again, against a real opponent..
If this game works out, more variations will be played and tested.
Perhaps i take the white pieces in one of those games..

But i prefer black because i love to play under pressure

I was expecting
a lot more comments in this thread from fellow chess players here on GK.

It is about the most interesting thread on this part of the forum.
And least of all a very interesting opening/tournament that can lead to loads of discussions.

Name?
does this variation have a name? because it looks very interesting

We're thinking...
... of the "Demolition Derby" Attack - a variation of the Grand Prix Attack.
I don't know how the inventor of the line (one Dana McKenzie) feels about this...

The Name
in a e-mail from Dana he told me this..

I would not complain if this became known as the Mackenzie Variation.
However, it is not up to me! It has been pointed out to me that a Swedish
correspondence player named Arne Bryntse played it a few times in the
1960s/70s, so it should be known as the Bryntse Variation. In order to be
neutral, I just call it the Queen Sac Variation.

Dana Mackenzie vs Freddy -
The game features quite an interesting King hunt. Bit of a cliffhanger, by the look!

Dana vs Freddy - Demolition Derby Attack
oddodddodo (1200) vs. easy19 (2269)

The game is annotated up to move 24 but is stil running..
looking forward to your comments..

I can tell you that this game against the inventor and top expert in this opening is quit hard.
A loss is most likely but we are both learning.

With nearly 90% of the tournament completed...
... The first 3 places have been decided. First and Third have completed their games and can't be displaced. Second still has 3 games to play, and is guaranteed second whether she wins or loses all 3 games!

For a long time nuntar looked a strong contender for 3rd at least, with a mathematical shot and 2nd. Not to be. I suspect his pessimism, especially with the White pieces, hurt his chances, especially in recent games. He can still make 4th, though... But I think nuntar prefers a quieter sort of game - he's not alone in that by any means!

The oddodddodo vs easy19 is looking good for White at the current stage. It was surprising how quickly Black's game turned from OK to very difficult.

Interestingly, nuntar defeated me playing white with a very methodical and patient game.

I would like to play this tourney a 2nd time, with this experience under my belt, to see how I fair. I know that several of us lost games early on due to falling in various traps. I think it would be interesting to engage in a 2nd tourney with the same players to see how the games developed. However, I suspect I may be in the minority on that desire.

Steve
I am willing to start a 2nd tourney using this opening.

But i have several other candidate openings that might be as interesting as this one.
I will figure out what is best..

You also can start one yourself   But then it is your project.

Note:
My game with Dana has ended in a draw and the game is now annotated.

Dana will make a chess lecture of it. I think it will be available soon.

At some point, I most likely will start a "2nd Annotation Project." However, I would happily join one you create as well as other tourneys that also require sharp tactical/positional play.

A new game for the Annotation Project.
Hi everyone,

I have just finished my penultimate game with a victory giving me 16 points out of 19 games. Be nice if I could finish with 17 and be only 3 points behind the Master Mater. Here is my second victory against graderguy with me playing black. Here it is:-

Hi everyone!

My last match in this mini-tournament ends on a high, giving me my highest ever chess rating, 1857, amazing, despite my tendency to be passive at times. I now come away with 17 points out of 20 games.
