New MT (Caro-Kan Exchange/Panov)

I started very slow MT for those who do not worry playing slowly.
Purpose: to examine Caro-Kan Exchange variation
Let's join and enjoy: gameknot.com

Some annotations after MT will be prepared.

Statistics of variations: First half of tournament

Half of games are started and it is possible to look into distribution of variations. Pure statistics, only – wirthout any evaluation...

It is interesting that Panov-Botvinnik attack is selected in all 10 games!
After 1. e4 c6 2. d4 d5 3. exd5 cxd4 4. c4 Nf6 5. Nc3 it was continued:

In 6 games: 5. … Nc6
And then:
6. Rg5 (3) and then 6. … e6 (2); 6. … Be6 (1)
6. Nf3 (2)
6. c5 (1) 6. … e5 – worth to watch it:

In 3 games: 5. … g6
(1 game was played 5. c5 g6 6. Nc3 – but I consider it as substitution of moves, only)
And then:
6. c5 Bg7 (2)
6. Qb3

In 1 game: 5. … e6
And then: 6. Nf3 Bb4 7. Be2

Note: And it is interesting that one of games (already) reached an interesting endgame of 4 Rooks. You can watch it:

First blood comments

game - that's seems to be more correct link to the "first blood" game...

A lot of different ways in the middle-game could be discussed a lot, but what happened in the game lead to the better endgame for the White. They had a variety of strong moves. Nevertheless I think Black could hope for the draw anyway, but they have an only right move in every position.

I couldn't find the best in this one
Taking one more pawn (37. ... Rxh2) is loosing a tempo and a game. 37. ... Rf1! - and continue battle for the draw!

Impresive final part (great shot 19. Rd7+!!!) - it could follow 19. ... Bxd7 20. Rxd7+ Kh8 21. Qxb7

New finished game in Caro-Kan MT:
prokkt (as Black) overcame dmitrym (

game ) and gained his first point.
At the moment, only loreta has no any point (even half of it : ) ), yet.

In the second half of MT it was played only Panov/Botvinnik variation, again. Lines played:

5. ... g6 6. Nf3 (+2 from previous report)
5. ... Be6 6. Nge2
5. ... Nc6 6. Bg5 e6 (+2)
