NEW FORUM TEAM PAGE
GREETINGS ALL GLAD WE COULD START A TEAM FORUM PAGE. LETS GET IT ROLLING AND KEEP IN COMMUNICATION SO ALL CAN IMPROVE. I KNOW I CAN USE THE HELP..... ANYONE KNOW HOW TO OBTAIN ANY GOOD CHESS VIDIO'S WITHOUT PAYING AN ARM AND A LEG. WOULD LIKE TO SEE ABOUT STARTING A VIDIO LIBRARY TO SHARE WITH ALL,IE EACH PLAYER PURCHASES ONE , BURNS A COPY AND THAN MAILS OUT SOME. ANY INTEREST. JACK
|
|
Great idea Jack. I have sent a message to the team hopefully we will get more participation and we might actually do this. Cheers Eddie

Copywrite violations?
Exchanging burned copies of chess videos is probably against both US and international law. Doing so on a public forum is pretty risky.
|
|
Hmmmm
Good point Norm. What about web sites or share ware? I am sure there has to be some thing out there.
|
|
Refer to...
Maybe look at www.chessvideos.tv ?

|
www.chessvideos.tv
This site is a bit awkward with respect to the user interface, but it appears to have quite a few chess videos by players who know what they are talking about, as well as excellent "training" exercises. I have not spent a lot of time exploring the site, but I did register and it appears that doing so permitted full access.

Just...
testing. Hello out there

Needle in a haystack
Thanks for the message Eddie. Until you sent it, I didn't even know that Gameknot had forums. Hard to find since they are buried in the MORE OPTIONS. Anyway, under "thread options" above I've selected "watching (get a notification when someone posts a reply)". Not sure how long this is in effect or whether it goes to email or messages? Guess time will tell.
|
|
Not sure either. =) But lets see. And hello ritchmex welcome. Cheers Eddie

|
notification
Got a Gameknot message so appears notification is sent there rather than email.

Chess vidio
I was not necessarily talking about pirate vidio"s. I was thinking more of a vidio library within the club? Possably kept at a central location for "borrowing" . I learn much better when I watch and see rather than read!! Especially some of the better, but more detailed, chess books. Is there such a site, as mentioned above, where u can rent or watch on line at your leisure to absorb them better? Is this something maybe GK could help with. I just seem to have hit a wall and do not feel I am progressing very well past my current level. Any help would be appreciated. Also lets keep the forum going open to almost any conversation at different times. Thanks Jack

re: Chess video
Jack, See what you think of www.chessvideos.tv. It appears to me that registration is free, after which you have access to more videos which discuss chess strategies than most of us have time to watch. I did watch one video about an endgame in which the player was down one pawn (each player had a rook). It was about 45 minutes long and although it could have been more "polished" and taken less time, overall the strategy explanations were fine (ranging in quality from OK to outstanding). There may well be other Web sites than this one as well. Larry

Some discussions in forums about team rules.....
so I wondered how CPOTW teammates felt about proposed changes. 1. Teams compete with other teams of similar size (10-50-100 man teams) 2. Competing with a start and finish line, perhaps an annual team tournament 3. Has anyone else wondered about possible collaboration during team matches? I can't think of any surefire way of discouraging or preventing it.
