Two Merseyside footballers had their homes burgled today, in the first Steven Gerard had all his England caps, his two F.A. cup and Carling cup medals along with his uefa and champoins league winners medals stolen.
In the second Evertons Tim Cahill lost a kettle and a toaster!!!!!

Couldn't agree more calmrolfe TC was a snip at £1 mill.... You could have bought 20 of him for one Robbie Keane, Then sold 12 of him back 6 months later... And I bet Gerrard was really happy he didn't go to Chelsea otherwise he would have had his premiership medal stolen as well !!!

New blood
Greetings chaps, it's about the time of year when I drop everyone a line. I'll skip the excuses for now, you've read 'em all before! However here I am to say that I've had a quick look at the lengthy list of applicants for a team place, and approved new membership for no fewer than 5 new recruits!
Welcome on board stevepiper, tehya1, mandog, godusty and davidlundqvist, I am sure we can find them a few challenges over the next week or so. Will be updating a bit here and there, be in touch again soon...

BLIMEY !!
I've just bought a DVD with 650 Classical Chess Books on it.....for £4.50 !!!
It's got every classic on it, even Garry Kasparov's "My Great Predecessors" Volumes 1-3, they come in at £35 a go in book form. Incredible value for money.
It's amazing what you can pick up on EBay, at a stroke, my Chess Library of 270 books has become redundant.......
Only problem is I'll probably have to give up playing Chess in order to find the time to read all those books !!!!!

The only slightly bad news is that he has only 2 left, and he has upped the price to £8.99, but at least it is Post FREE. It is still a terrific bargain, I have looked at several of the books already and they are great. He also has private collections, for example, one author has simply collated everything he could find on the Ruy Lopez and pasted it all together, it runs for 1,259 pages for just that collection only. For a Ruy Lopez fiend like myself it is priceless research material !!
I think the whole collection on DVD runs to about 4.7 gigabytes
There is loads of Dvoretsky and Kasparov on there as well. (I might give the Schiller, Reinfeld and the Keene books a miss though !!)

I see that Nigel Short is due to go over 2700 in the next rating lists and re-enter the lists as a Super Grandmaster. Surprisingly he has now overhauled Michael Adams to regain his England No1 status.

Three team challenges have started,
tonyb24, epwew, matt_wood87, luckygit, drdreallday, kanzetsu are playing games from Horseman of the chesspocalyps team.
stevepiper, matt_wood87, luckygit and simon13 are playing games from schachmatt team.
markas, drdreallday and marxwax is playing games from the fighting VVwariors team.
I will try to get the team some more games sorted out by the weekend.

Also I'm going to Majorca for two weeks, so i wont be on gameknot until I get back.
