By profession I’m a social worker, and my passion is writing. Regarding Chess:

I started playing chess two years ago, when a friend taught me to play OTB. My bio- dad once tried to teach the game to me several years ago, but failed; being a retired Navy Seal (he was a Frogman in WWII and the Korean War), my father was much too “military” in his teaching style, and I couldn’t learn from him. So we gave it up then. But this is now… However, I do have a murky past history of timing-out on chess games. Quite a few were due to the California wildfires; I couldn't make it home from work during that time and the rest is history (which is haunting me), but I’m trying hard to avoid time-outs in the future. I look forward to learning more about chess, and I remain open to suggestions. Typically, I don’t resign, but play to the hopeful end... I’m very fond of chess history, and I belong to a couple of clubs here on gameknot, as well as a few groups on chess.com. And I also play backgammon and chess on brainking.com. Hopefully we’ll be seeing one another around the boards. Please feel free to challenge me, in spite of my low rating (I may surprise you).
